This song was released the year I was born, which makes it 40 years old (and me almost there). The first time I heard it, I was blown away by Gary Moore’s beautiful phrasing of these traditional Irish melodies, and Phil Lynott’s soulful voice & lyrics. I never thought of attempting this solo (mainly because that jig section is a major PITA to play cleanly), but I sat down with a metronome and slowly worked it up to speed. Sometimes a little hard work goes a long way :)

The guitar is an Orville LP with OX4 pickups, plugged straight into a Soldano SLO100 & UAD OX.

Nice work!

There is a ton of really tasty playing on that album, one of my favorites

Excellent job! Scott Gorham and Gary Moore are two of my favorites, love me some Things Lizzy.

That was awesome!! Nice vibrato. Love that era of Thin Lizzy. The SLO sounded great for that. This is seven years old now but I did this cover of Waitin’ On An Alibi with a backing track that had no guitars on it. It was a lot of fun doing the harmonies etc. Amp was a plexi build I had done back then.
