Hi guys, tonight I went to put the stock celestion V30's back in the cab of my Mesa Tremoverb combo, it was converted to closed back a while back and the chassis converted to a head, it has an aftermarket plug & play jackplate. Hooked it back up and used the 6505+ 1st, sounded thin as hell, same thing when I plugged the tremoverb in??!! Anyone know what's going on with the cab?

Not sure, but somethings wrong. Those are not thin sounding cabs.

What speakers were in there? The V30s don't have a lot of low end so if you were using a really fat sounding speaker, maybe your ears just have to adjust to the V30s?

Is the cab lifted off the floor? Was it on the floor before you noticed this?
Cabs on the floor have much for low end than cabs lifted off the floor.

Yes the cab has the Mesa track-lock casters and they were on the cab

I didn't have any speakers in there. Originally I took the stock V30's outta the tremoverb cab and put them in an X pattern with the 2 stcock celestions in my marshall 1960A cab but then my brand new WGS Retro 30's showed up in the mail and those went in place of the V30's in the marshall cab, just got around to putting the V30's back in the tremoverb cab tonight and like I said, with either the converted tremoverb head or the 6505+ it just sounds paper thin no matter if I was trying to run it at 8 or 16 ohms? Originally I was thinking of getting different speakers all together for the Mesa tremoverb combo cabinet

Speakers are out of phase with each other... open it up and invert one of them.

What do you mean by in phase with each other?

IE, both speakers are pushing out ward at the same time. Try switching the + and - on one speaker and see if that helps. I assume you are running in 4ohms mono (both speakers in parallel)

BTW, thanks for the jack plate link, I may have to pick some of those up, I have been using a Marshall one that is plastic. I don't like how cheap it feels. I just noticed too that the price on it is double what it used to be. http://www.tubesandmore.com/products/S-H800

Before I got the WGS Retro 30's 16 ohm to put in my Marshall 1960A me and my friend took both of the stock Vintage 30's outta the leftover 2x12 tremoverb combo cab and put them in an x pattern in my Marshall 1960A, I thought it sounded pretty good given our band plays modern metal in drop B, but then the WGS's showed up later that same day via UPS but my band had a show that night so we didn't have time to take the vintage 30's back out, put them back in the tremoverb cab and put the WGS's in the 1960A. Did the show that night with the vintage 30's with 2 of the stock celestion g12t75's with the converted tremoverb head and it sounded pretty good live.

I'm wondering now if I should just take the 2 WGS Retro 30's outta the 1960a and put them in the mesa t-verb cab and put the 2 vintage 30's this time in the top angled section of the 1960a? They WGS's & vintage 30's are all 16 ohm a piece, wonder how it will sound?

Before you start swapping speakers again check the phase of the speakers your having an issue with.

If your going to replace speakers you should know how to make sure they are in phase...
This vid shows how to check one speaker. Simply leave your speakers hooked up and apply the battery to both of them at the input jack. Both speakers should move in or out. If one moves in and the other out, they are out of phase and are cancelling out a lot of frequency's...
