In just over a week I'm going to be heading to Vegas, and I'm wondering what places I should check out for good music stores, and live music. And is there anywhere to play a Diezel in Vegas?

Steel Panther at the HOB every Sat. Never been to a music store in Vegas (too busy gambling), but I think there is a place called Cowtown Music. I think they have a website.

More like "what CAN'T you do in Vegas"!!!

The wife and I fly down there every six months or so. We usually just stay on the Strip and hang there for the most part. But we will go to some outlet malls and such. There's a Guitar Center just a bit south of Mandalay Bay in that outdoor mall area. It's okay. I do recall there being a Diezel dealer there, and I've meant to make it over there but haven't yet.

At any rate, when I'm in Vegas, guitars aren't usually on my mind. Too focused on making "memories" with the wife! :D

Btw... the wife and I stood five feet away from Satch at the HOB several years ago for an entire night and it was truly awesome. We ate at the HOB before the show and as a result, all we had to do to get put at the front of the line to get in was show our dinner receipt. Just an FYI for anyone attending a show there...

I've been to Cowtown..."ehh"...mostly used gear, so you never know what you will find there. Good guys though. BTW Cowtown is semi-regularly on the show 'Pawn Stars' every time the shop needs expert advice on guitars or other stringed instruments.

Cowtown used to be owned by Mark Chatfield who plays guitar with Bob Segar in his silver bullet band, he must of sold it to the current owner Jesse who used to work there back in the day.

After the obvious, there always the old cliche of burying a dead hooker in the desert if youre really bored...

There is a band called Arena that plays on Fremont Street every weekend, you gotta see them if you are there.

If your in the mood for something "non Vegas' related, check out Red Rock Canyon right outside Vegas. If you drive up to the Stratosphere and turn left at Charleston blvd, take that until you are out of civilization. I believe its a total of 15 miles west of Vegas, beautiful state park with plenty of hiking and climbing!

Or, start digging up the shallow graves and see if you can find Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci)

I went to The Valley of Fire I think it was called out that way almost 20 years ago. That was pretty cool too.

I'd check out Ed Roman's guitar shop.
Last year, Ed Roman required a $100 deposit to enter the store, not sure if it is still that way.

Two things immediately come to mind:
