think I have a new favorite bridge pup

the duncan p rails! Vrad came over last night and was good enough to deal with the complex wiring...but the results were well worthit...

I'm really impressed by the humbucker mode..based on reviews and the clips online (which there aren't very many of..and frankly most of them stink...except for the yamaha pacifica rep vid and the video on the actual duncan site) I wasn't expecting much from the bucker..but it rips..clear, beefy, not spikey or harsh, percussive as hell

the p 90 sounds killer as well..like a cross between a single and a bucker..just enough twang

the single coil is pretty good too..good for rolling off the volume for some slightly dirty funk/blues stuff...

all in all, I haven't smiled this much after putting in a new pickup in a long time...I'm not sure the pick guard with the Injector is ever going to be in this guitar again..hehe..maybe I'll put that in another cheapo beater....

Yeah I wasn't expecting that. I figured it would be a nice sounding medium output paf-like pickup. It was hot and clear and percussive as hell. The single was cool. The humbucker and p90 was out of this world!

Both of us were grinning like a couple of fools when playing that guitar!

that's right!!! Considering they have a 'hot' version with an A8 magnet I didn't think this one would have that much output..but it's actually high output as it is...I think getting the hot version would probably ruin the whole point

I almost forgive their tech people for not being able to tell me how to wire it up with anything other than another p rails or by itself..bastages =D but all's well that ends well

Yeah, it is a crazy pickup, made crazier by the output as you describe it; heck, had to be a hot pickup in series mode if each coil is supposed to stand on it's own split, right? A lot of pickups designed to be split, like the DMZ Bluesbucker or the Fralin Unbucker, have one coil hot and the other one wimpy to keep the output in check in series, but not Duncan, NOOOOOO . Kinda wish you guys had made it a three way toggle so you could do the single coil blade too.

It's not just that it's hot, it's that it sounds awesome! Very even. Not too much of this or that.

it is a three way toggle all three modes of the p rails work correctly..
