Thinking about getting this '87 ESP MI... thoughts?

Anyone here know much about these things?
Seller says it's a 1987 ESP MI.
I've never owned an ESP, but I know they have a good name.
Current owner has had it for 6 months, prior to that it was a case queen under a bed for 30 years owned by a Japanese fella.
I'll be getting this for the equivalent of about $700 USD.
Whereabouts in the ESP pantheon do these sit in terms of quality and specs? I'm currently trying to Google up some info.

What say ye??

 
Does not look like an 87 with that pointy head stock.
 
Coming from Japan, I wouldn't put more than 500 in it. I don't see the value for $700.

I don't care what people type for playing anymore - have them show the 1st-4th frets with the strings moved to the side. That will show you whether it was truly a case queen or gigged heavily.

Great guitars. Price is fine especially if it’s a good one. I have 3 from 83,84,86. They are good to great I like them all. If yours is new then it might play great.

This has the HSS routs, so I might just put a single up front in the neck, and have a single volume control and a LP style toggle.
 
Looks pretty badass. I think $700 is fair for an old ESP if it is in good shape. From what I have seen that is a pretty fair price and about what they average depending on condition.
 
Got a close up of the tremolo? It should have the ESP branded tremolo, but sometimes they route out for an OFR and butcher it

Yeah it looks like the ESP term with the angular base plate
 
That's the Sinclair trem and if they don't have the arm for it..they are damn near impossible to find but....Can be found if your tenacious..lol!
