Thinking of band names.

How do you guys do it?

I've always had trouble with thinking of a name for a band I'm in. I'm sure I'll read one of my college textbooks and find a cool word if I can't think of anything else.

Base it off of a video game or a cool sci-fi movie. Killswitch Engage got their name from an episode of X-Files. I'm thinking of using Nova Prospect for my next project. (From Half-Life 2)

I actually though Event Horizon (Movie) would be a cool band name thanks for the idea, Buddy. I hadn't though of that.

I've always loved the word Vacuity, it's a Gojira song, my bassist took it and turned it into Vacation.

I'm trying to avoid band names like "We came as ___" or "In search of ___" or "What once was ___" or "as ___ does something"

That kinda gay name.

Yes, avoid those gay phrase names. They're so over dramatic. "We're so hardcore!!! We are ...As blood pours from daylight's funeral bed"

BTW, a buddy and I came up with a perfect death metal band name, and a perfect punk band name.

Since death metal names always have something to do with going #2 or bloody body parts or some lame shit like that, I came up with "Weeping Urethra" So fucking metal!

And for a trashy sounding punk band, "Courtesy Flush"

How about 'The Gaze'?

Do like the black metal, or whatever these are, bands and make the logo in a way that it's impossible to read what it says. That way you don't even have to come up with a name.Like this:

I think you should name your band "Backdoor"

I'd call my band Fudge Tunnel. If there weren't already a band called Fudge Tunnel.

20 years ago my bass player and I were trying to come up with a name and kept throwing names out. We came up with one that sort of worked and said "Until Then" and realized that was it. Still use it
