Thinking of getting 2nd amp. JVM, Coreblade, or Blackstar?

For what it's worth, I just traded my stiletto ace for a JVM 205 and I'm loving it, a lot. I don't have to go over all the features, but once you get the channels and modes set up you have essentially 5-6 killer tones at your feet if you get the 410 f/s. It's an awesome thing to have with the band. I really like crunch red with the gain high and od orange with the gain on 4 for most stuff. I kick on od red for leads sometimes too. People usually say the clean on my ace was killer, but I think the JVM has it beat there. Gain channels have more low end as well. When I got it I could dial in a pretty killer tone in about 30 seconds too, easy to use.

That is cool to hear a comparison with a Mesa. I actually considered a Mark V as well but for some reason I like the sound of a JVM better. I think I'm just a Marshall-tone guy.

By the way, what is the main differences between the 410 and 205 other than wattage and channels? Are there any main features missing or is it just a matter of having less footswitchable options regarding channels?

No main differences, I had a 410 once too, it was wayyy noisier then this one, but I think I had a lemon with that. I used to run two noise gates (one in the front and one in the loop) and I would still get some feedback. The 205 is a lot quieter, I use an decimator in front and it's good. The OD channels are OD2 from the 410 and clean is clean, jtm 45 and jcm 800.

Thanks! I know some 50 watt amps sound way different than their 100 watt versions. I am mainly playing in my basement so I don't need anything too over the top watt-wise. I just wonder if I would miss the extra channels?

I meant i wonder if I would miss OD1.

Look for a used Coreblade. Like someone mentioned, the resale value for H&K stuff is way lower than the new price (undeservedly so in my opinion...), so if you like it, you might be able to "steal" one. I don't have direct experience with the Coreblade, but I've had a Switchblade for a few years now. It has great build quality and sounds great - especially in a band mix (kicks the shit out of my lead players JCM 2000 DSL...) :D

I don't miss od1, I'm really digging od2. Funny considering on the 410 I spent all my time on od1.

i had a JVM for a year and never really nailed any single tone with it. Jack of all trades, master of none as far as I'm concerned. Have you thought about getting an axefx?

Couldn't have said it better.

If you want to save yourself some money and cure your gas a bit. Hit the 1 watt Blackstar with a TS808 Pedal and slave that little sucker into a bigger amp. Ive been doing that lately with my Ht-5 and laughing my ass off by how amazing it sounds.

Id play a gig with that setup any day and Im sure Id turn heads with it :hys:

 Dude, I was playing my 1 watt Blackstar last night and had it cranked a bit. I think people would be surprised how great these things sound. How you digging that Fortin? I've heard some clips but definitely out of my price range. :)

An Axe-Fx is not made for someone like me with ADD. :D I'd go insane tweaking that thing. I have considered it though. People seem to get great tones out of those.

I Believe that there are just 2 blackstar models that are made in uk , they are the handwired series. I have been wanting to try a jvm also. I was thinking of getting a rockerverb 50 next but the jvm 50 might be worth trying our first.

My Little Blackstar 5 watter sounds incredible right out of the gate and even better when Hit with a TS808 pedal. If you crank it up to much you lose headroom but what can you expect with a 5 watt amp. I love the amp so much that I got the idea of slaving it to a poweramp to boost up the volum and that combo makes such a portable rig that I'm actually going to use it at a gig or rehearsal LOL

I am LOVING the Fortin and it sounds better and better every day. Mike built the board from the Ground up and as the parts are breaking in, the amp sounds sweeter and sweeter. I just got done moving but I will be doing some clips as soon as I can

Seriuosly, Save yourself some money and slave the little one watter! If you want to drastically alter the sound, hit it with a boost pedal and EQ and you'll be amazed
