okay. So recently I bought a peavey valveking head and cab. Even though it is a low model, it sounds MUCH better than the 1x12 combo I was playing through. However, I am considering getting some pedals for it. I am new to this whole deal. especially to tube amplifiers. I'm looking for suggestions as to what would be good for a pedal, and, hell, even a signal flow as to what may sound good in accordance to position.

THank you rig-talkers!

Several true bypass pedals with one dedicated buffer. A buffer will halp purify your tone, but too many of them is just as bad as none.

Isolated power supply. Daisy chains make ground loops sometimes.

Noise gates are nice. Decimator is one of the best.

Everything else is whatever flavor you choose.

Foxrox Octron. A cool flashback delay, or carbon copy. Get a cry baby way of your choice and send it Cry Baby to get modded for $50. Get a Mo-Faux vibe pedal from Sweet Sound Pedals, digitech hardwire reverb. Hell you could All the hardwire pedals and make a cool all purpose pedal board that's uniform and probably has a custom fitted tray or something. Then sell everything and start over. Or just play really loud and then throw your guitar.

To the OP, you've left this WIDE OPEN m'man... So there's bound to be some offside replies. Basically, categorize the effects you imagine wanting into the following:
- compressors sustainers
- envelope filters
- modulation
- dirt/OD
- ambience
- delay

Get an idea what you think you may want or where you music typically goes in yer mind and that'll start the process. I've got a shitload of effects, but honestly? The ones I use almost all the time and exclusively are delay, reverb (sparingly) and a clean boost. Outside of this, sure, love the wah when it's needed, got a lot of different flavored dirt and overdrive, but I like an amp to provide that usually. I like chorus/flange/phaser, but it's too "been there done that" for me most of the time. LOVE my PitchFactor.

If you got the bucks, just throw down for all 4 Eventide stomps. That oughta keep you busy. Or, for the same price, a used Axe-Ultra.

Peace,
Mo

So, I am going to make some assumptions here. First of all, I am going to assume you are on a budget, and maybe looking to get two or three good pedals that give you some versatility. There is good advice above on how to power your setup, so I will just discuss pedals. I am not a big effects user, so I don't have many recommendations as far as phaser, flanger, or chorus type effects.

I think you will be happy with a overdrive (that you can use as a boost), a distortion, and delay.

OD: Way Huge Green Rhino, MXR Badass Overdrive, MXR Classic Overdrive, Ibanez Tube Screamer, personally I would go with the Green Rhino
Distortion: ProCo Rat, MXR Badass Distortion, MXR Distortion +
Delay: MXR Carbon Copy, TC Electronics Flashback, Way Huge Aqua Puss

These are a good start if you are just getting into effects. I am kind of a MXR fanboy. They are affordable, reliable, and sound good. I am sure others will have some recommendations for you also. Some more affordable than others. You can drop a good amount quick if you start looking at boutique brands.

Thank you for all the replies. I am very new to this whole tube amp experience. First time owning one (and trust me I like it MUCH better. a big eye opener.)

I've done some looking around. I've heard a compression pedal with a chorus pedal is good for cleans, but what about a compressor for overdrive? bad? good?

also. I'm looking as to have, primarily, an OD, chorus, delay, wah, compression, and maybe a volume pedal. I've looked at how to set up the arrangement on a pedal board, but frankly, I'm lost

Maxon 808
Phase 90 script
Carbon copy or flashback
mxr stereo chorus or tc corana also the new petrucci pedal will kill a couple birds with one stone
Dunlop wah if your choosing cae or Jerry Cantrell are two of their most popular at the moment
tc makes the hall of Fame verb also there is the hardware series
Jewelry makes a great compressor so does mxr if you don't want to spend that much
Dc brick or voodoo for the power
Get a buffer Forsure
Mxr flanger is classic
boss ns2 or decimator

Buy bulk mogami cable from redco plus all the ends you will need
pedal train pt-2 pedalboard.
Most of this can be found used on craiglist or eBay
Rotovive is cool to but you can get one pedal that will do a few things

Here is a little help for you on order.

For wah, I think you will be really happy with the CAE wah. Gives you a little more versatility to play with. Then you can avoid the standalone buffer, and use the onboard boost as a buffer. Unless you are running long runs of cable, or many effects, you really don't need to spend the extra on a dedicated buffer right now. As far as volume pedal, do you really have plans on using it, or is it just a thought. I rather use the knob on my guitar. The previously mentioned DynaComp is a good compressor. One I really like, that is more transparent, and very affordable is the DOD FX80B from the 80's.

As someone else said, look used, eBay and Craigslist. You will save a bunch of money, and what you don't like, you can flip it and not lose money.
