I gigged a Mesa Mark for 12 years and have used Marshalls now for years, but have been thinking non-stop about how great that old Mesa sounded.
I have a chance to get a Quad with and FU-2 footswitch. I also have a line on a Mesa 50/50 6l6 loaded poweramp.

I love the idea of having a stereo rig. Run a couple 2x12's and have some huge Boogie tone.

Do you guys have any experience with the Quad? All I've read a STELLAR reviews on this thing.

Thoughts and thanks.

It is a Mark IIC and III preamp .... can't go wrong there.

Not a fan of that poweramp(Mesa makes some of my favorites).

Great sounding units, a friend of mine used to have one, make sure the footswitch works..can't change channels without it.

Massive sounding excellent preamp, sounds great with the 295 and 395 or strategy 500 power amps...

There's a local Strategy 500 power amp.
Is that the way to go?

Thanks for the comments.

That is my favorite poweramp by anyone(it's loud). Take a look at what tubes well run you, a consideration when negotiating a price.

Hardly unbiased but I've had the same quad since 1988. Great 80's sounds
(I know...it's from the 80's) and you can use any tip/ring type switch(er) to
change channels on the back panel.

See if you can find a 295 and have some fun

I used one for several years, great piece, wish I still had it
I would pick one up again if I found the right one
