I am looking at this charvel on ebay but I dont know a lot about charvels other than the two recent socal/sandimas models I had were really nice.
I saw this on ebay and am wondering if it is like thew music zoo natural wood models and if its a custom shop charvel
If anyone has any info regarding this model or charvels in general or what to ask/look for I would appreciate it.

It's a USA production model, not custom shop. You can tell by the serial number, any USA made Charvel production model will have 00 before four more digits. USA Custom Shop guitars have 4 digit serial numbers with no 00 before them.

Looks pretty nice, I dont know much about them either, but from seeing alot of the socals selling used I wouldnt pay more than 600 especially with that nasty ding.

It's one of the less common USA production models. Oddity may make it worth more than $600, but surely not $1000.

Isn´t that one of the american Pro Mod wildcards? Basically a limited production model, and it didn´t cost $1000 to begin with.

Thanks for the replies.
So its comparable to a pro mod?
I wasnt crazy about the promod trem is this trem better?

It is a pro mod. Pro mod is short for production model. I just wrote it out in my first reply so there was no confusion. When Charvel built them in the USA they called them Production Models. Then when they moved them to Japan they shortened it to Pro Mod.

The trem is still the horrible Korean made Floyd.

Thanks now I undertsand and I wont get it, I'm picky about floyds.

I don't think the Korean Floyd is horrible. I think it is still better than just about any other locking trem out there other than the Original Floyd Rose (German) or the Gotoh Floyd copy. I have sold tons of guitars with that Floyd on there and have seen no failures. The only issue they have is that the arm wants to loosen up and not stay tight and the German ones can have that issue too.

And, it is no big deal to change the Floyd to the German one but will cost you about $70-80 total after you buy the German Floyd on ebay and sell the one that is already on there.

I wouldn´t stay away from it because of the Floyd, I´d just stay away if it gets too expensive.

I had one of those that I bought new. Great guitar... KILLER neck and the JB in it sounded great. The price is a bit high but you could likely haggle it down.

W.

Yeah, I would say $800 tops. It's not a custom shop but is USA production and still a nice axe.

Buy a Suhr with the Gotoh.

USA Production model So Cals & San Dimas sell for between $749-849 on eBay. I just sold a few of mine.

Great guitars, and the Floyds on them are fine. I can't stand the thick neck joints though!

Guthrie Govan has forced Charvel to start doing an all access joint on his test model. Not the sloped heel they offer in the custom shop, but a proper all access heel. Welcome to modern times Charvel
