I'm getting around to ripping out the carpet today to try and clean it rather than having to replace it. Over the past month I've been taking out interior panels in my free time and cleaning them up, trying to "restore" them the best I can without replacing them. A 1998 truck that's been used for work will never look like a show truck inside without spending thousands of dollars. Today, I finally got enough of the interior out to remove the carpet and attack it with the freshly repaired pressure washer. A LOOOOOOOTTTTTTTT of dirt was washing out, even after spending a good bit of time with the water on it, it still has a ton of dirt in it. Judging by how much crud and dirt is under the door sill trim pieces, the area of the interior where the weather seals press down on, etc, I think the guy used the interior of the truck to haul dirt rather than the bed. I've never seen the interior of a vehicle this filthy.

After spraying it down, I used my pump sprayer to apply a mixture of Tide detergent and water and let it sit for a while, agitating it with a brush. A good bit more dirt came out when pressure washing it again but there are a couple areas, 1 in particular, where the dirt/crud is almost a part of the carpet now. I think it's slowly breaking loose with agitation and pressurized water, but I think it'll take some time.

I'm hoping that after cleaning out the interior and putting down some Ospho or something on some surface rust on a floor panel to stop the rust, I'll be able to put the carpet back in and have a halfway freshened up interior without really spending any money. That's what I'm hoping for at least. How can I afford tubes and guitar strings if I'm having to buy new carpet and interior trim? lol
