Thomann bought Hughes & Kettner

H&K seem to fly under the radar; Toki from Aldious and Tommy Thayer from Kiss are the only pro users I know, though I'm sure there are more.

I was impressed by their Black Spirit 200 Floor, but I like the ISP Theta Michael Sweet kit more.

They just aren't that great of amps, at the least the current production stuff.

Mushy, undefined, brash and small sounding.

We have one of their largest dealers somewhat local to me and I have played many models all with matching cabinets and such.

Just not very good overall.

Maybe their old made in Germany stuff was decent, but nothing new is really anything special.

I had a Tubemeister 18 or whatever it's called several years ago. It looked cool, but I couldn't ever get a sound out of it I liked for more than 10 minutes.

I don’t know about that. My TriAmp MKIII sounds huge AF. It’s definitely a “dial with your ears” amp though and the tube complements really affect the tone and feel.

Are the new Triamp models made in China?

Just saw they are $4500 and Made in Germany.

Would never drop that on an HK but haven't played their older stuff, only the newer made in China trash.

The older Triamps sounded great, I played a couple after seeing Fuel at Mississippi Nights a long time ago and really liked them. Some guys really liked the Duotones as well. I really have no idea about anything after that...shit it was like 20 years ago plus.

The DuoTone is like a higher gain 800 with a fucking tits clean channel. Killer amps.

I only know about them through Alex Lifeson. I saw lots of shows on the tours where he used them. Dunno what he recorded those albums with, though.

Maybe they can make a triamp that sounds as good as it looks instead of looking amazing and sounding like dogshit

I really liked my old Triamp mkII.

As I have said before, is it going to offer a guitar forum gear head with a room full of old Marshalls, Hiwatts, Wizards, Larry's, etc something he needs? Probably not.

But mine could do alot of things well for a channel switcher, felt good to play and was very reliable.

And while I can't speak for the mkIII Triamp, the mkII and mkI models sell for cheap nowdays.

I also own a Triamp MK3 and I absolutely love the amp. I thoroughly hate the company though, and will never ever buy another product by them.

I had a triamp mk3 well before I got any of the heavy hitters, and was never a fan- I know @ZEN Amps wasnt a fan either. And considering the asking price, it is in direct competition with a lot of amps that smoke it. I grew up as a kid wanting one and was super disappointed when I finally could afford it- thankfully I got it for a low price and made a profit on resale
