I'm loving this amp, and I'm surprised it doesn't get more praise here. I have the matching vertical 2/12 cab, and when its cranked it sounds pretty badass. I've played my last few gigs with it and I"m pretty happy with it. Here's a vid of Johan playing one cranked. I wish I had that cab: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgIQ0S0nr4s

Yeah, it's really, really great. I had the 100w head, sold it only because I bought a Diezel. Later the 2525 came out so I went to GC a few times to play one. I think they sound better than the 100w. It's a LOT of fun to play.

Great amps. Boosted they can get as good a modded Marshall sound as most anything. IMO.

I had 2 of the 2555SL which were the Slash Sig Ones & I sold them both before I got married.

I played a gig a few weeks ago that was outdoors. I was next to the bassist who had an Ampeg 8x10. I cranked that mini Jube up to 7, and it sounds great when you really crank it. One thing I love about the 20 watters is you can turn them up and let the tubes do their job, and get a damn good tone.

I really want one of these. That vid with Johan it sounds really good. Love that guys videos because he can usually crank stuff up so you hear what it really sounds like.

I thought the bottom end was too loose for my liking. Even boosted. It acted like it wanted to sound good, but I returned it.

Tried one, but it wasn’t my thing. Too harsh and loose sounding for my taste. YMMV.

I was considering swapping my 50W 2553 for the mini, but I have read enough about the mini being too loose on the bottom end, and its not like the mini would be that much quieter.

I love my 2553, but its not not a home amp, it needs to be pretty loud to give up the goods, but what wonderful goods they are.

It's subjective. I made this claim after buying and returning it, and like anything, people disagree. I boosted with multiple pedals and put an EQ in the loop, and it was too flabby for me.

I had one. Great little combo with the closed back and port on it.

Seems like a cool Marshall, I’ve started to try a Marshall, but I may be the weirdo freak that’s never had one. Well, that isn’t entirely true, I had one of those valvestate Marshall’s back in the early 90’s, but I think that doesn’t really count. Anyway, thanks for sharing, seems like a cool rockin crunch to it.

For those that didn't like it, did you try the head or the combo? The head looks really interesting to me. I had thought about picking up a 2555X when they were blowing them out, but the lower wattage of the 2525H is great, while still being EL34 based. Also is appealing that they kept the pre-amp the same as the 2555X.

I bought the head, ran through a 4x12.

Thanks guys. Really interesting how the comments are so varied on this one. Maybe tubes or the bias it is shipped with..? Looks like the bias isn't adjustable?

It's cathode biased, that's what really turned me off. The plate voltage on mine was 258, and the tubes were only at 56mA, when 70% should be closer to 67mA. You'd need a hotter pair.

I just found it too spongy. Much like my experience with a Budda SD.

That explains it. Looks like a cathode biased amp can be adjusted by replacing the bias resistor. If that's the case, it's too bad there's not a pot so it can be fine tuned.

If you step up to the 100w 2555X you can put ANY 2 pairs of octal tubes in it, with test points and bias screws on the outside of the chassis. 6L6 on one side, EL34s on the other. Or any other combo. Pretty cool.

258V plate voltage is still WAY too low for guitar amps though.
