Thinking about pulling the trigger on one of these. I’m tired of RG570’s, but love the Ibanez necks. I wanna step it up a couple of notches, and I dig the looks of the SFG Jem. Anybody spent time on one of these, and can you get the action reasonably low without massive fret buzz? That’s my main gripe with the Ibanez guitars I’ve had, gotta have the action high to play clean. They’re all done on CNC’s, and they all seem to have the same faults.

You'd probably benefit from a proper set up by a reputable luthier or guitar repair person. Most guitars (that you wish to have stupid low action on) will need that. I know it seems like they 'should' have perfect action from the factory, but you gotta remember they are made out of wood and shit shifts a lot of times in transit moving from country-to-country.

As for that seafoam green one... I love that color. That's my jam.

Thank you for the reply, the problem with Ibanez guitars in general ,is that the neck angle is out of wack. If you shim the neck to correct the angle, in addition to sustain loss, the tremolo has to be completely sunk into the cavity which completely destroys the tremolo range. To fix this problem would require the neck being artificially raised in the neck cavity, along with an angle correction. I shudder to think what this would do to the tone and sustain.

I love the look of the seafoam Jem, to me it's one of the nicest looking Jems ever. BUT I have a friend who has one and he thinks it's total garbage. They're in the Premium line, so not Japanese made, and I guess that's part of the problem?

Thank you for your feedback brother, i really don’t wanna get stuck with a POS. I think ill wait and get the Regius Pro 6, definitely cant go wrong there.

My 1987 RG550 has stupid low action flat up and down the neck. It's a little too low for me. And it came that way when new in 1987. No shims.

Ya, the early ones were hand made, and there are some great instruments from the late 80’s.
