splawn is 12 ?
you mean 16...

Just match your ohms.

Headers are what are on my Mustang. Amps are heads. They get to stay inside.

16 for the splawn, sorry. I am new to the electric life, been playing acoustic mostly. And 4 or 8 on the amp, which I plugged into 8.. but now I have an issue, I just bought this used friday from a local dealer, it's not pushing out what I heard the day I bought it. When I turn down overdrive and play it clean with no gain, it's just not right.. volume wise and it just sounds like shit. With the gain, better but still volume is way down..

noun: header; plural noun: headers; noun: header tank; plural noun: header tanks
1.
SOCCER
a shot or pass made with the head.
2.
INFORMAL
a headlong fall or dive.
3.
a brick or stone laid at right angles to the face of a wall.
4.
a line or block of text appearing at the top of each page of a book or document.
the part of an email before the message, containing information such as the subject and sender.
"every email message needs a header indicating the sender's identity and address"
5.
a raised tank of water maintaining pressure in a plumbing system.
6.
NORTH AMERICAN
a person who ropes a steer by its head (as opposed to its heels), especially in a team-roping rodeo event.
"the steer ran straight and the header made a good catch"

My dad took a header lo lastnight.. you should see his [HEAD]. He literally headed straight into a brick pathway.. feel bad for the old man, but drunks will be drunk. I assume they do alot of headers..

Sounds like the amp took a header.

Match ohms or don't hook it up.

Well isnt it true as long as my ohms are 8 on amp I can plug into a cab at 16???.. I dont wanna ruin amps, I looked into it and it said it's ok, as well as people who know gear also said it's all good, just dont do the reverse

You don't have to match the ohms. As long as the output from the amp is lower than the speaker cab you plug into you are fine. Now, the output you hear will be lower than if you were to match up the numbers, but it is safe to mismatch low-high amp to cab. Some do this purposely as they like the tonal result. But don't do the reverse, i.e. 8ohm out to a 4 ohm cab as that will stress the transformers.

I realize that you can, but I would not recommend that to somebody who clearly doesn't know what they are doing.

Matching ohms is a good and safe rule to follow, in general.

Agreed, though sometimes you don't have the option i.e. a Mesa Mark, with only 4 or 8 ohm outs into a 16 ohm cab. When I can match up I always do.

You can run an 8 ohm head into a 16 ohm cab with no problem at all! I have been running 8 ohms on my JCM 800 into a 16 ohm cab for years
