I'm looking to get either the Focusrite Clarett 2Pre or UA Apollo Twin. My Windows 10 PC desktop doesn't have a Thunderbolt input of course. What do I need to purchase to make the interface compatible while maintaining the full benefits of a Thunderbolt connection?

I don't think you can take the full speed advantage, but you can buy a cable or box to convert Thunderbolt to USB3 pretty cheap. But then not sure about drivers for Windoze.

I went thru this about a year ago, I tried to figure the same thing on a laptop without thunderbolt. I ended up switching computers as I couldn't find a converter that would work well for thunderbolt either usb or FireWire and driver issues etc. that being said I love my Apollo thunderbolt. Good luck on your search

Is it simple/cheap to add a Thunderbolt input to the desktop?

If you have a desktop, it may be possible. Do you know what motherboard you have in there?

Depending on that, search for a thunderbolt card that's compatible with that motherboard.
