I'm using 2 basically identical Suhr std Pros in my band, both mahogany Pro's one w/510 bridge and one with Gotoh Floyd for Eb tuning, other is in std tuning. I can't seem to keep the 510 in std tuning in tune, I've tried graphite, nut lube etc and still it goes out of tune too quick. Playing w/another guitar player it can really suck when one of us is out. Anybody got any addl tips or tricks that have worked for them? I do not go crazy on the bar either, usually just a little wobble for vibrato type effect. Seems mostly on the non wound strings ironically. Thanks

I play a mahogany Modern and have had a bit of trouble too. Does yours have locking tuners and do you also stretch your new strings ALOT? I've been stretching mine and it has helped but I do still have tuning issues from time to time. Another thing that could send it out of wack is lights. At certain venues I've been very close to bulbed par lights (if you have ever played under one of those bad boys, you know what thats like, HOT!) which I think detunes mine. IDK try some of those trouble shoot options. I played an 61' SG reissue for along time and started to gig with it. Played like shows and had enough. I replaced it with the modern cause I got tired of tuning EVERY SINGLE song. Great studio guitar HORRIBLE stage guitar IMO. In my own experince most solid mahogany guitars are just tempermentally like that. Maybe Ed or John will have some insight. Thats just my 2 cents.

thanks but it's in my basement which is finished and heated so the temp is pretty stable. I do not have this issue with it's brother, also a Suhr Mahogany pro but with a Gohto floyd so I know it's either at the nut or at the bridge. I agree though, mahogany necks/guitars are more susceptable to climate changes etc. I find myself tuning after almost every song at rehearsal though and that's getting rediculous, can hardly wait to see what it's like under the lights. I have several other Suhrs with 510's and they all have this issue to some extent without doing dive bombs or anything. I was just wondering if anyone else had found a better solution. Thanks for the info though....

I also have both. The Gotoh Floyd is very stable. The 510 not so much. Mine has a Tremol No. With it locked it is very stable. Honestly I don't know how Guthrie can use his for vibrato, etc. and stay in tune. I also have tried everything. I just keep it locked and it's perfect as a fixed bridge. If I want to use a floater, I use the Gotoh Floyd.

Make sure you can lift each of the strings straight out of the nut slot with NO grabbing
You know the 510 is never going to be close to a Floyd in stability right?
Most people have tricks to deal with the issues of a non locking bridge.

I highly reccomend the Goeldo Backbox. It's a version of an old Ibanez tremstopper that really works if you want dive only.
Adds sustain as well and It WONT go out of tune. It's way more rugged than the tremelno which is a bit weak. I broke one of the pin type...the clamp type may be better.
Called and emailed tremelno for replacement parts and was told on multiple occasions they would be sent but they were not.
