Those guys rocked, but these guys still rock!

Anyone can say they rock, but unless you bring it, you don't rock shit!

Fuck that chess club and eyeliner bullshit!

Any guy wearing eyeliner should be punched in the balls by Mike Tyson. It should be law.

Sorry to say....I appreciate their energy but hate that singer. No balls in his voice and he still looks like he just got done with a D&D tournament. It's not just upbeat music with blazing Marshall's I miss. It's a look, an attitude, the band looks cool but reckless. Could give you the best night of your life and still fuck your girlfriend.

It could just be that being older and having played in many a band I see through all the attempt at rock image and see the dorks hiding underneath. Who's to say in the 80's it was any different and that I was just looking at it through young eyes, eager to buy the fantasy. But looking back on what's been revealed and documented about those days, it was pretty real.

Plus as nit picky as it sounds I'm over beards in metal/rock bands. It's like boys trying desperately to appear as hard men (go for it Barzini   )

At least when I was last playing out in Seattle '05 and before there were a few bands trying to do the Valiant Thor kind of sound. All just didn't have the singer to take it over the top. Just screachers in skinny jeans.

Ah Dont think they have balls…..unless they are transvestite and they dont need em anyway.

When I was younger and far more flamboyant, I used eyeliner (or gayliner if you prefer). Nothing excessive... But it was what it was. Girls dug it, so I didn't complain.

Every once in a while I got some jerk who stared at me long enough to notice it, and the following conversation would ensue:

"What the fuck duuuuuude... Are you wearing make-up?"

"Yes."

"Are you a fag?"

"No."

But most paid no attention. Just like I don't go up to people wearing caps or baggy pants and start insulting them and their choice in attire.

In some places you can walk around in the most ridiculous outfits, and nobody takes offence. But other places feel the need to insult, threaten and beat you (I have never been beat up because of this BTW). Why I don't know... But something is wrong inside you if a mans attire makes you violent. Or even angry.

I disagree, please come to some real Death Metal shows. I feel your luck will change quickly.

Not to mention his stupid rant at the start.

Not to be a classic one-upper. :D But you gotta love how you can hear him flip the pickup switch at 1:28

I watched the GnR vid and noticed that Slash is out of about 80% of camera view.

Odd.

I feel this way about sideways baseball hats

And Twitter.

I really think the over exposure of the process of a band since the internet blossomed in the 90's has really ruined rock n roll. You know every little detail about it from industry mechanics to the individual personalities and their lives and gear. There's no mystery or anticipation. It's all instantly available, sometimes even before a band has released or done anything substantial. There's a lot to be said for when you would look at a poster or record cover and your mind would run wild wondering what the life was like, what they were like? I miss not knowing much about an artist.

Also you really needed some goddamn talent to be promoted and invested in. So many of these mediocre bands get elevated, getting to do festivals or whatever because there's ultimately a serious void of a real "voice" or distinct talent in rock. As if pretending strongly enough that you rock will get it done. I swear kids today are getting cheated. But I'm just a bitter old man who's glory days are behind him and can't possibly understand where kids are at today! Get off my Lawn with those Girl jeans!!

In hind sight knocking eyeliner probably doesn't make sense since I love 70's Kiss, Alice Cooper and The Sweet but fuck it. I'll play the hypocrite card  But those bands brought it in a big way.

Those vids really made me miss Ray Gillan.

I truly feel sorry for those that never got to see GnR live in the '80's.
