Hi,

Im in the market for a attenuator. Cash isnt a problem.

When looking at specs i like it that the captor has the ir's build in.
Having more attenuation options on the ironman 2 is a big plus (well, i think so)

Im using a Herbert at the moment but im planning on getting a MarkV

For now ill be using it for attenuation, so the IR part isnt a must have.
It comes down to, does the reactive load with more attenuation posibilitys justify the extra cash ill be spending?

Thanks,
Robert

As an attenuator, the TK is far superior. As a load, neither are a very good choice.

Not convinced you're going to get much benefit from using an attenuator with either of the amps you mention though. They both run massive amounts of preamp gain with clean, loud power sections - turning down the master sounds as good if not better than an attenuator in this circumstance.

For recording or other fun IR stuff, maybe you should be looking at a Fryette or Suhr load with IR capability.

Im only laying at home, at night. The volume pots of the amps are very sensitive. I always thought i would attenuate, hvaing the master at a reasanable level and having the master section breathe a little would end in having better overall tone when attenuated.

Thanks for the input, best is not to by blind i guess.
