Ok......after a little pep talk. Its back to being happy.
Bacons feelings are easily hurt.
Sure looks like he is having the time of his life. Gonna be great to eat him later on for a snack.

Bacon is salty and gross. I'll take some good ol' juicy ham any day.

They should call this the Yngwie: donut, bacon, and maple syrup all in one package!

I love Trower, but insulting one player in order to compliment another doesn't make sense to me. I don't particularly dig what Yngwie does, and I think he can play a lot better than he did on That Metal Show (sorry to the OP, he has gotten a bit sloppy) , but it doesn't mean it is any less relevant than Trower, Ford, Carlton or whomever.

To my mind, music is a language. Yngwie just has a different accent than Trower. There is plenty of room for both.

Great post!

I finally caught that TMS on my DVR last night. Yngwie's far from "inspired" these days. But it was good to see him still around, doing his over-the-top schtick. One thing that I love about him is that he just keeps-on, keepin on. Like Rush, Iron Maiden, etc. Does what he does, and what he wants to do. I respect that immensely. And though I may drift away, I'll always admire him for how much he turned the head of the guitar world on its side (and mine). He made his mark and made a difference (like it or not). The vast majority of the critics in these threads will never make much of a mark or much of a difference, yet they dismiss his accomplishments as if they were something they could have done in their sleep. The kid was freakin NINETEEN YEARS OLD when he came over here and blew the doors off of the guitar world!

Yngwie is great, but there is only so much I can take.

Kind of like bacon....

Yngwie has gotten a little sloppier but he still nails most of his own runs (though faster) and sounded better than 90% of the other people they have had on that show. He was also probably playing cold for the most part.

Could not agree more. He wasn't perfect, but he did as well as any other player I've seen on TMS in my opinion. Some of the players were actually pretty bad, but I always tried to put myself in their shoes and realize that the circumstances aren't conducive to playing your best. Like when I sit down to noodle in a music store! (Which I rarely do.)

Two great posts!
Yngwie really stepped up the game to what it is today. Both technically and harmonically. Yes he seems less inspired these days, but he still has the best vibrato ever.

I just saw it last night...it wasn't THAT bad...the tone was way too gainy though. At least he seemed like a cool guy instead of the egomaniac he usually is...

Yngwie does one thing, but does it very well.
If you don't like that one thing then you ain't gonna like Yngwie.

I wish he would have become a bit more versatile in his playing as he got older.
It seems his vocabulary on the guitar got a bit smaller as time went on.

He definitely a stylist though. After the first few notes, no matter what his tone is like, you know its him. That says something.

I love his version of Spanish Castle Magic from the Live in Leningrad VHS/DVD/Album/disc. Shows a different side of himself on that one.

You are talking utter shite. Any tool who chastises Yngwie for "playing too many notes" or "having no soul" needs their ears tested. Yngwie's playing - especially his vibrato - is amazingly expressive and soulful. He is certainly no mere shredder.

Comparing him with people like Trower and Ford (both of whom, by the way, are also fantastic) is meaningless as they have completely different styles.

This EXACTLY. 2 of my favorite albums are 'Bridge of Sighs' and 'Marching Out'..and the other day on my way to Chicago I listened to both in full. This would be like me jumping on a different forum saying how Robin Trower sucks because he doesn't play any sweep arpeggios lolol..love both players for what each of them do.

Wow, tough room lol. Ok I love bacon. I thought he was good not great on TMS, but I did enjoy his solo piece at the end, very moody in a good way. I have been lucky enough to share the stage with him a few times and believe it or not he was a really nice guy, to me at least.

I have a great shot of my rig in front of his rig, its insane. My favorite part of the picture is he has a button (footswitch)so he can turn on and off his very own fog machine.
