I know there are a lot of 24 fretters out there but I thought this looked really cool. The Tom Anderson Angel:

Any of you guys order one? I talked with Teddy at Maken Music and it sounded like a lot of guys ordered in the week or 2 after NAMM.

I ordered one with an alder body, Burnished Orange flame top, matching headstock, vintage trem and a +.050 neck profile. H2+ bridge pickup and H1- in the neck. A single coil in the middle, SC1 I think ...

I love the NAMM guitar, and it definitely got me thinking! I asked if they'd do direct mount pickups a year or so ago and got a flat 'no' even though they were doing them on the 7 strings.

Holy shit that's a big neck huh?

Maybe ... I think the regular carve is .810 to .870 so this will be .860 to .920. My main guitars are Les Pauls with the bigger necks so this should feel more at home. I had some Suhr Moderns in the past that I loved but I always wished the .820-.870 elliptical necks were a bit bigger.

I had originally spec'ed the Anderson at +.070 but Teddy talked me out of that. Probably for the better.

anybody know what are these selling for - low 3k?

Yeah, right around the $3K mark. You can get the plainer Player version for more like $2500-$2600.

Stock Angel with the flame top lists at $3899 with a case. Angel Player (no maple top) is $3249 w/case. Neck and other options can raise it up from there. I called 3 dealers and all said 23% off list. I thought it would be like Suhr where there's a little more leeway depending on the dealer (30-40% depending on who you call) but the Anderson pricing seemed more consistent - at least with the ones I checked.

My favorite Anderson neck carve/profile.

Definitely not too large.

Congrats!

I like both body shapes a lot - Modern and Angel. I like how the Modern has the slightly offset body, it looks really cool. A couple of the early Angel pics looked like they might have a slightly offset body too but I think it was just the photo angles.

I could see getting another Modern someday. I had an orange flametop with a mahogany body and neck - that guitar was near perfection.

Yeah that first pic Tom posted on instagram of the matte black one didn't look good to me.

The fret access on the angel looks better than the suhr modern. I just wish Tom had as many options to choose from as suhr.
