Picked one up yesterday to match the HN3 in the bridge of my custom Legacy. I had a Duncan Full Shred previously, which wasn't bad... it was just a bit too thin and bright sounding (which is saying a lot since this guitar is dark by nature).

Clean sounds -> This pickup has a lot of beef and bounce to it in full humbucker mode. Very clear as well with a slightly soft top-end. Not a lot of mids. Clean runs could be described as "piano-like".

Mid-gain -> Great vintage chunk with a lot of dynamics. This pickup responds very well to pick attack; it has an awesome Dumble-esque chirp when you dig in. Cleans up nicely thanks to the great dynamics. Could be described as "woody" :)

Robo-gain -> Great lead tones. Thick even on the upper frets, good string definition if a little muddy (could by the Guytron, too, since it's a pretty compressed amp at high gain settings).

Split sounds -> IMHO this is the best part of this pickup. Very, very convincing single coil sounds in both neck and bridge + neck positions. Split, this pickup lends itself very well to saucy blues tones.

That's it so far. At first I thought the pickup was defective, as it was all muddy and craptastic. But then I noticed one of the leads was loose on a George-L solderless plug on my pedalboard. Once I fixed that, I was like "Whee" :D

So far I'm giving this pickup   ESPECIALLY for only $80 :D
