I have been drooling over the DropTop's on the Anderson Guitar Gallery pretty much everytime i have been online for the last week!

I have played Strats and superstrat styled guitars since day one. I absolutely love Les Pauls too, but theyre never my main guitar... Its always the Strat style that fits me the best.

Looking at the specs available on the DropTop model, i think one would suit me down to the ground as far as tone, playability and looks too.

Any Tom Anderson owners here? If so, tell me about your guitar and your experience with these guitars  Lookin to get plenty of opinions and info on these, as i see myself making an Anderson purchase in the very near future!

Cheers!
Dan

Don't own mine anymore, but it's hard to find a fault with them, IMO. Whether or not you dig their style, and taking into consideration the fact that tone and feel are totally subjective, they're all put together pretty flawlessly. Every one I've ever laid hands on has been niiiice.

I love my hollow cobra s.

That looks killer!

Yeah im definitly getting the impression that theyre pretty much flawless guitars.. The spec that i have seen on lots of the Drop Top's would suit me perfectly, down to the tinyest detail.

I have only had the chance to pickup one or two Andersons before, and didnt get to plug in either one. But playing thru them unplugged, they felt amazing.. Very rich resonant tone, and crazy good playability!

They rule, what else is there ???   I predict another one in my very near future - not a Drop Top, probably just a regular good ol'Classic. Here's my old one:

and my real older Green hardtail was just on evilbay:

All in all the TA's are awesome and one of the few guitars I would buy sight unseen.

WOW.. that H/S layout DropTop Classic is unreal!!

It has almost identical pickguard layout to my GMW/Fender mutt which you used to own :D

Not a Drop Top but one of my two main guitars is an Anderson Classic. As was mentioned above, I'd have no reservations about buying an Anderson sight unseen--as long as the neck profile was to my liking. Great guitars and nice people making them.

Very cool Drew!

So what neck shape do you guys think would be most to my liking? I usually play a GMW mutt, which has the San Dimas neck profile.. Its on the slimmer side, but its extremely comfortable.. not too thin.

Andersons are sweeet Dan. But what I think YOU need, is some more cowbell. ;) :D

Hey Mike he should have seen the one I was playing last week huh?

Hey Dan they are extremely well made guitars. If you're in the market for a bolt on style guitar there are two builder that you cannot go wrong with... Anderson and Suhr.

:hys:

I wonder if Anderson could make me a custom DropTop with a cowbell attached to the headstock... :D

Definitly seems that way!!

I think the Andersons are more to my liking than Suhrs, but both look amazing!

Great guitars, super playability, lots of definition - almost a hifi vibe even acoustically. The only thing they can't do is a raw, barking/honking type of voice, like old Gibsons, etc.

The best sounding guitar I ever owned. Easily. Had a Drop Top with a Mahogany back and Maple/Rosewood neck and to this day regret selling it.

I've played several Andersons over the years whether it's been in passing or borrowing from a friend and each of them has sounded, played, and felt amazing. Someone else mentioned it and I completely agree that I would have no problems buying an Anderson sight unseen. I've even liked their basswood guitars and I typically don't care for basswood at all. Tom also makes my favorite pickups bar none.

Both of the ones I had were amazing. I just wish you could get a mahogany body instead of alder and basswood.

Do you see a trend there ???? ;)   The guitar above was one of only a couple they've ever done in that layout. That one was / is a hollow drop top and was the most alive guitar I've ever owned...sounded insane until you plugged it in, then it had this mid range honk overtone that just killed it  Through every amp. Now,clean it was unreal, but when you added any drive to it - it was over.

Ahh man, thats a real shame!! It looks like the kinda guitar that would do high gain tone with the best of em, but obviously not! :aww:

I think if i buy a DropTop, i will buy a solid body.. not a hollow model. I gotta try some more Andersons out again soon

Great guitars! I love them and at one time I considered selling off all my guitars and going all anderson. The only thing that kept me from doing that was that I feel more comfortable on the Charvel type necks. The Anderson necks are amazing but there is something about the Charvels/GMW's that I like better.
If you can get one, I would highly recommend it!
