amazing drummer but not really doing anything here i would consider "killing it"..pretty simple footwork pattern and hands here. He kills it on the Whitesnake stuff though! ( I drum as well)

Wow!?!? Drummers can be as bad as guitar players when it comes to offering up praise!!

I would say it is more about what he is NOT doing and the simplicity that makes me consider that he is "killing it". It always seems that a lot of drummers are more impressed with "more" rather than "less". (I'm a Charley Watts fan BTW)
Another guy who gets it. That's it, I'm changing the title back.

Nah......leave the title the way it is! It will weed out the overplayers!

this place is becoming like TGP... a couple of no names on a guitar forum criticizing Tommy Aldridge...lulz

I've always loved Tommy's drumming. He's got the best feet in the business. Nobody does double bass like that man.

He's the only drummer I have ever heard that doesn't annoy the shit out of me with a double bass/pedal!

I remember seeing him with whitesnake in the late 80s. He looked old back then   Great Drummer, they opened for Motley Crue Girls Girls Girls tour. I made it 2-3 songs into Motley then left after Tommy Lees crazy drum cage roll. Still think Aldridge was/is 1000x better

Listen guys, I totally get "it". The guy is a god in my books and his work in whitesnake (especially the live DVD) makes me cream my pants, but this was just not "killing" it. That's all i'm saying. He "kills" it ..just didn't kill anything for me in this clip. Hits like a damn mule though! all power.

Fine, I changed the title. :m9:

love this thread!

I think Tommy is great! And he's got that "haven't looked a day over 60 years old" look going for him for the last 40 years too!

I'm not a drummer, but I like this. His "mere standard" beat is just so relaxed and in the pocket. It would be an absolute joy to play to his beat. Running around pounding toms&cymbals in blastbeat style just don't give me any feedback on the drummer. All hail Tommy Aldridge.

One of my all time fave drummers. Besdies being spot on, he puts on a great visual show behind the kit. And he still plays like he's in his 20's.
