This guy has been around forever and knew a ton of guys on the scene back in the day. Some good tidbits on EVH and how to set your plexi up with variac, some fun stories and an interesting tidbit bit from Greg about Randy Rhoads and his inability to improvise and jam. He also used some of Greg's licks and rythm for Crazy Train (alledgedly). Interesting factoid because Randy always did strike me as a type of player who likes to work everything out rather than just go at it like Lynch or Schenker might do. Anyway it's a fun listen.

I always listen to Tone Talk when I'm in my shop working ..... you learn a lot .... not just about amps and such .... but straight up business experience within the Industry .

I'm a Rhoads nut ..... so I will definitely have to put this one on

Hmm...never heard of him. Making a critical comment on RR is not a good look, though. But maybe that's his point? To get people irritated...I'll have a listen soon.

Yes, I caught the first hour and half or so. Good show. Love the early stories about Dokken and such. They do some good shows.

I listened to it while at work yesterday, cool stories and notes. At times it seemed like he was sort of pumping his own tires, but that’s also very common of musicians. We all have to have some ego to get up on stage to perform. He is obviously a knowledgeable person on the tech side of things, and a very respected player of that era.

Yeah, I enjoyed it. Tone Talk tends to be really good.

He wasn't critical, he was praising RR and was pals with him. He took over his teaching duties when RR died as a favour to the family business. Just something he noted.. he did say he was brilliant.

If you check out his stuff the guy has a great voice. So he is right about that. Good player too but by his own admission, sometimes the song writing wasn't where it should be. Never got his break. But tonetalk really is great... they go everywhere depending on the guests.

Absolutely, it was a great show. And funny enough I had stumbled onto fairly recent video of him and the band live and they sound great. This was maybe a few weeks ago, so to quickly have this follow up was pretty cool.

Greg is a great dude and where I used to work he would come in and we would chat about gear every single time. Need to give this a listen!

Nice Guy, worlked on a few amps for me when he was in the strip mall on Vine. Know amps well and was reliable and fair. I believe he's moved out towards Pasadena.
