Not too shabby I must say........mix could be better but the underlying tone is there. This ToneX seems to capture the dynamics of a cranked plexi/speaker cab interplay depth of the speaker excursion on the chugs and mutes with nice harmonic content that you get with a real amp/speakers/4x12's at volume....I never thought I would say that about something digital........Not my vid.:p

DAMN! That's layin' down the LAW right there.

I have been super impressed with the ToneX. After years of trying, it is probably the first system where I have enjoyed playing through the computer.
I did not hear that kind of depth of dynamics of the amp/speaker/speaker cab interplay in Kemper or Factal, but I do hear it in these ToneX captures. I am going to actually look into this ToneX setup more closely. Prices don't seem bad at all:2thumbsup:

This ToneX looks like it profiles like Kemper does...........I hear that depth to the tone in these OLA clips that I hear in the 78/79 clips.

Yeah, I have used Fractal for years, but lately been more into my ToneX stuff. I find the ToneX has better dynamics for the high gain chug I play. The low end moves with you better like an amp does. I don't find myself fighting with it as much, almost like it is less compressed, yet more compressed at the same time.

I decided to try the free ToneX plugin one day thinking I would think it is OK and move on, but within a month I already owned Total Studio MAX. I have been so impressed with it I bought into IK Multimedia's total system. ToneX, Amplitube, and T-Racks are all great plugins.

Yeah. Kemper, ToneX, NAM, and Neural Cortex are all using capturing technology. NAM, ToneX, and Neural are using newer machine modeling techniques with "AI". I was always a modeling guy over a capture guy, but I can't deny these newer capture devices are getting much closer on dynamics even if they are more limited.

ToneX is technically the plugin. It is a software device. The pedals are really only there for you to download your tones to and take with you. You dont even need the pedals. You can download the software for free to try it. I use it more on the computer than I use the pedal.

So I could just use the computer software to jam through my full range computer studio monitors then?

I assume I would need some type of interface to plug my guitars into correct? Is that what the $399 pedal enclosure does?

We are now entering the era where you can literally get EVH’s elusive in a box. Crazy
I have never denied the tones were pretty good with Kemper and Fractal but the dynamics were a bit lacking, the ToneX somehow is capturing the finer details. I don't know what the feel is like playing them but these new ToneX captures have my attention, the guys playing them seem to be inspired by what they hear/feel while they are playing.

@harddriver sounds very good! You just made "gas-ing" for a ToneX. Does that 79$ collection works on the mini pedal?

I really don't know., the Fair Warning vid isn't mine just to be clear, I came across it on YT same with the Neddi Stanz video. I am currently on a fact finding mission about ToneX and what everything entails.

In that Neddi Stanz video the 78/79 captures just sound like a great Marshall plexi in alot of different applications not just EVH. I could see myself jamming through my computer studio monitors and enjoy it when I don't feel like firing up the amps.

The 78/79 download looks like it's $79.00 bucks but I don't know if you need other IK Amplitude software to make it work. Maybe Mr. Shask can shed some more light on the issue.

Yeah, you can just play it through your computer. That is what I do most of the time. I have the smaller ToneX One I use sometimes through my cabs when I dont feel like turning on the big tubes.

Yeah, you just need any sort of interface like you would need with any recording or plugins. I bought an Axe I/O interface since I like the IK system and it was designed more for guitar players. The ToneX pedals can also work as interfaces, but it is a little funky how they work.

The Big ToneX pedal can be a stand-alone pedal/preamp/modeler type device you run through a poweramp and cab, or you can use it as a computer interface.

The big pedal and the mini pedal basically just play sounds from the ToneX software. You can play them through the pedal, or just through the program or VST plugin in a DAW. You dont really need the pedals unless you want to take the sounds outside of the computer.

For me, this is a fantastic product. Hell, I'm old and disabled but I still want to go "Damn, I love that tone" when I play. I think I might sell my amps and get ToneX. It's impressing me and with this 78/79 pack I can get reasonably close to Van Halen 1&2 sounds. And there are 2 more Van Halen style packs that cover WACF, FW, DD and 1984 coming? That's easy math. It'd be nice not to worry about the cost of tubes and amp maintenance.

Thinkin' about it.
