Amazing what he can do with having 2 fake finger tips and I can't even come close with my real fingers.

That was sweeeeeeet !!!

Thanks for the share - he is a true riff god

These were awesome vids

Crazy how it's so simple in many ways, the tunes that Sabbath was putting out back in the day, but man - the ground they were breaking was massive. Those licks, riffs...the approach was just so different - SO massive.

Awesome post.

Any metal/rock player today that doesn't claim Iommi as an influence is only kidding themselves. He's the Grand Pubah of heavy guitar.

since you mentioned the fake finger tips, here' Tony with the story :)

Thanks for the videos man! Iommi and Sabbath were just so totally groundbreaking & massive- some of it seems so simple but there was really quite a bit more going on.

btw, anyone knows what amp is he running in those first videos? it sounds AMAZING

The line 6 Pod in the back ground
Yeah that is such a great darkish raw tone  Could be a Marshall 9001 preamp. Ive seen he has used a Marshall 9001 w/9005 50w amp and Marshall 4x12 cabs. Orange in '72 and Laney amps and has a sig Laney TI 100w head. Looks in the vid he is in a studio and not necessarily his gear other than the Para TY wah.

hey, thanks for the vids...

I saw them on July 21, 1972. I was 14. I still remember the first time I heard Paranoid.

That would have been awesome

Looking back I can't believe my parents let me go. It was awesome. There was nothing like them at the time.

I remember one Saturday night Black Sabbath was to be on a TV show In Concert. The video had this late 60's psychedelic flowery background... it was fantastic.

In Canada, albeit I think it was an american show, we had "Pop, Rock and Soul" on TV - back in the 70s. And this was more or less the start of what we know as MTV and MuchMusic today... Videos, interviews and the like. I always remember FREAKING when they had KISS on it. I went apeshit. But I distinctly remember Sabbath on there too - with these rotating/cycling flower'esque lights and shadows swirling around the back of the set.

Tony has had a huge effect on me even as a child. BS was my favorite band when I was 8 in 1972.

Great videos. This man is the true master, and I have learned more BS riffs than any other bands, and for good reason.

Tony is the riff master. One of my biggest influences for sure.

The last I saw he was running his Laneys with some Engl Powerballs live. Not sure what it is in the video.

HE IS JUST "THE" DUDE!

I heard that Sound When I was 10 Years old, and I said; "Yep! This is What I Like.... "

I started playing guitar JUST because of Him. PERIOD!

:worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:

Let's say a prayer for him guys...

Roid

His tone on the "Heaven and Hell" live DVD with Dio is absolutely huge. Never been a Laney guy, I tried them early on and did not care for them, but they sound great on that DVD
