This came a few weeks ago. KSR (and Rhodes before the change) lives up to the reputation. More great sounds in this thing than any one person can get out of it. I tend to be a pretty simple player, but I also hate the pedal tap dance, so I like having everything midi controlled. I hit one button and everything changes. There are so many switches, voices and levels of things that it's hard to figure out what you like best.

So after a day of screwing around with it, I decided to just record it and see what happens. Well, this is what happened.

I have the Torpedo in the rack, but I think in most circumstances, I'll use a cab. But it's nice to have the option to go to a gig "light." I just hope that a sound guy can dial enough of me into a monitor.

p.s. There have been fantastic deals on used KSR/Rhodes amps in the sales forum. If you're considering, and it's within your means, you should pick one up. Or, you know, buy one from new Kyle, who is as cool as it comes.

Yeah, he's got another guitar in the works for me. A bit more involved than the first three that I have, but somehow he knows exactly what I like in terms of neck size and feel.

That thing sounds fantastic. Nice job and that singlecut rules hard!

Thanks guys.

I guess I'd qualify the necks as slightly thin and flat with normal width. Like a thin D. There is some meat to the neck, but not huge shoulders or anything. Somewhat like a mix between an ESP Eclipse and a Gibson R0.

Though I do have a guitar that he built for himself that has a R8/R7 style neck. It's just on the edge of being too big for me, but after a few minutes with it I can be comfortable.

Erv (short for RRR V)

The new one has already been named Barrrb.

Nice clip.

I've been really wanting a KSR.

Was the Orthos for a while but I'm kind of interested in the Ares now but that is a badass rack!

Thanks guys. It's pretty killer. I'm still experimenting with sounds in the band setting. Too many options!

How well does it cut through in the live band setting?

It's doing well, I think. The other guy is playing a 6505+ and I can dial it in where when we're together the sound is pretty crushing (when in the room, anyway), and when we're playing different things, I can hear both of us. I haven't listened to the recordings of last night's practice, but we usually get pretty good separation.
