What are your top 3 favorite guitar shapes ever, and why? Can be for aesthetic reasons, comfort reasons, you tend to prefer the tones from that kind of guitar, etc.
For me I think it would be:
1, Les Paul - I feel most at home with it, love the tonality of the big mahogany body with maple cap. I know they're everywhere but to me it's still the perfect combination of classic styling without being too bland (always found S-style guitars a bit bland
). Black custom, goldtop, burst, all look great to me. I think the Guitar Hero 3 controller might've played a part in my love for it since that's when I was getting into guitar, plus I'm into a lot of post-metal bands that tend to use Customs and Studios.
2. King V - V is just badass, and it's gotta be pointy. Never owned or even played one but I think it'll probably be my next guitar if I try it out and gel with it. BC Rich Stealth gets an honorable mention for pointy (even though it's not that pointy) guitars. Looks better than a Jackson Warrior or Ibanez X to me, plus Chuck.
3. Jazzmaster - Gotta give a nod to THE offset guitar since indie/alt rock has kind of been at the center of my musical interests for so long, even when it comes to the types of death & black metal I gravitate towards. My 2nd favorite guitar behind my LP was a mahogany MIJ Offset Telecaster (JM-shaped) that I used in drop B for sludgy stuff. Really got along with the shape but that fucker was like 12lbs and I found I was just picking up my LP whenever I played, so I ended up letting it go.
