Torn on a Gibson LP

So, been giving serious thought to a new LP standard and dig the double troubles. Curious what you guys think about the back on this one. I wouldn’t be able to play it before buying. Top is amazing, which is what grabbed me but I’m not feeling the look of the wood of the body. Thinking about resonance and all that. Wish I could play it in person to dispel any concerns. Do you think excessive grains and potential knots matter at all?

I have a newer standard that I bought brand new. It’s absolutely flawless. Not a metal machine but a fantastic playing guitar.
 
I was looking at these since they were announced at NAMM, but when they finally came out I wasn't a fan of the color on the back in the stock photos. This one looks really good all around, including the back. I think knots are a bigger problem with acoustics. One of my '01 Standards has a spot like that on the back and it's been fine.
 
I’ve got a Brazilian rosewood neck modern eagle that has a knot in the mahogany in the back and it rings like a grand piano, so my first instinct is it doesn’t mean anything.
But I do get your concern, I played the thing before I got it and felt the same way till I heard it. I think Gibson is trying harder than they have in a long time to put some great stuff out. I’m on a Les Paul hunt at the moment myself.
 
The one thing that really holds me back is the tiny ass frets they use. The thought of having to spend $400, almost right away, on a 3K purchase doesn’t sit well with me.
 
Yeah. If you want a new Gibson USA, you need to be ok with very low frets. Otherwise look for a used one.
