Torpedo CAB Rack Shelf Holding

I've added a Torpedo CAB to the stable for use with (currently) an ADA MP-1 rig. I have everything housed in a shallow 6U rack with a non-sliding rack shelf at the bottom and the space above it open. I'd really like to have a place on the shelf to RETAIN the CAB in transit, which will also allow easy removal of the CAB for placing on top of the case or wherever for working with it and its knobs.

I haven't even plugged it in, yet, but thought I throw out some feelers here to see if anyone here has experience with accomplishing this type of process. Maybe there's stuff on the market to do this, I'm simply "new" to this effort.

Velcro can do it, especially industrial strength dual lock. The dual lock is very strong so a little bit will hold it easily while still allowing it to be removed for use on top of the rack (too much dual-lock will make it hard to remove without tools etc).

I do something similar though I don't rack the CAB. I merely wrap it in foam and stuff it into the rear of my deep 4U rolling rack during transit (all cabled up via longer cables etc). I simply unwrap the CAB from the foam and put it on top of the rack when using it with the various racked tube preamps and Axe FX Ultra. I find it easier to deal with the CAB's display on top of the rack, plus is saves a rack space.

The other options are the 1U LIVE of course, or using the CAB on a pedalboard or sliding rack shelf etc.

I used to have a ADA MP-1, loved it, and will likely get another now that I have the great Two Notes tube power amp sims available via the CAB (currently using custom Egnater/Randall MTS tube pre's and a vintage Kittyhawk Quattro).

I'll be interested in how you like the CAB and MP-1 combination once you get it going?

An idea from left field, there are some mini pc's available that cost less than a tablet that could allow the cab to stay in the drawer without losing any functionality.

also, there are some rack cases whereby both the front and the top open, usually for a mackie style mixer, that could work well

Velcro is the obvious method, however, I was thinking or trying to determine something a bit more robust/industrial. I'm most likely putting way too much thought to it, though.

I do have a Live which is used with my Mesa Mark V. I hope to add an amp or two to the stable in the coming years, as well. The Live is soooo awesome for this.

The MP-1 and CAB combo are as awesome as one with any experience with them would expect. I've messed around with it and the Live while awaiting the CAB. I have a BBE 482i between it and the CAB, which has a major added sonic bonus, and will be incorporating some FX unit into the rack, as well.

Here's the awesome thing - although only in theory, as I've not yet done it - one side of the MP-1 into the CAB into DAW and the other side through BBE, into DAW with WoSIII. I expect this is going to be quite versatile and aurally pleasing.

Sysexguy...I'm not sure I'm following you. Care to share an example link? Keep in mind, this is a rack shelf, not drawer. Just fastened in at the bottom of the 6U shallow Gator rack.

Blathering done; unless some better ideas come out, I'm thinking foam wrapping might be the way I end up going for transit purposes.

Regarding the Industrial Strength Dual Lock fastener, it's VERY strong (unlike regular Velcro), and if you use a lot you'll need a pry tool to separate it (assuming the adhesive works on the painted surface etc?). It can easily provide a semi-permanent mount for a CAB.

Use "Scotch/3M Dual Lock", "Godlyke Pedal Board Tape", or equivalent.

CAB and WOS in stereo will work if you compensate for the different latencies.

Good luck...

Here's what I meant re the case

for the drawer, some Pelican pick and pluck refills will be super easy http://www.pelican.com/oem/customize/pr ... _pluck.php or equivalent

Andy...I guess my question was more regarding the "mini pc's" comment. Thanks for sharing the rack case pic. I've worked with those cases before and they are nice and useful. Not something I'll use for this rig, though. I've got a couple cleanup items to get racked up and straighten it. Maybe I post a pic here once that's done.

Thanks, Andy! Duh. I'm a little slow (er than usual recently) and was completely off as to what you're suggesting. I'm with you now. Thanks again.
