Yes, trade the Mesa for the Diezel. Then sell the Diezel and get a real amp like a Friedman or Fortin . :D

If you can afford it, go for it! If you don't like the Deizel, they are not hard to sell.

I'm not saying he shouldn't do the trade. But saying the Triple Recto "sucks"? Really? One of the most used amps of the 90's, that redefined popular guitar tone "sucks"?

The dual recto was the one that was used the most in the 90's, the single recto is pretty good too but I feel confident in saying that the triple sucks.

I thought Adam Jones used a Triple ? .... to be honest could hardly tell the difference in them and the Dual myself.

I only seen him with dual rectos since 93. The triple did not come out till late 94 if I remember correctly. I always wanted to ask Adam's tech this question just to be sure.

I thought the Triple and Dual came out at the same time .... but really have no idea ? I thought Adam never used a Dual to be honest.
Dual came out in 91 and the Triple in 92

I have stumbled across the opportunity to switch from my beloved triple rectifier to a late-model VH4. Currently, I am teetering on the fence about this ... push me one way or the other.

Are you in Europe or the States. Rectifiers tend to fetch more in Europe so I could understand the trade if that is where you're at.

Personally I prefer Triples to Duals, they sound meaner and are tighter even at lower volume levels. The only bitch about them is the higher cost to retube, they aren't designed for power amp distortion anyway you don't have to run them full up.

Obviously it's not a straight trade, the VH4 is one of the greatest amps of all time, the triple wreck sucks.
Rectifiers have their place. Some great metal albums were recorded with duals. (SYL, Nevermore for example)

That said, I'd take a VH4 over a Rectifier.

Dual rectos are great, in fact I am looking to get another myself but the triple sucks.
Not the 2ch triples. Them and the Ractos are the best Solo head rectifiers. Ive had 4 different rectos. My rev F triple was the best one ive ever heard. It was awesome. Most of the pros that use rectos solo heads use triples. Well, live anyway

I'd do that trade in a heartbeat and not have to think about it for a second :)

I wouldn't say one of the most used, but THE most used amp of the 90's and probably well on up to 2003-2004. I played a few old 2 channel rectos and with a boost, they can sound really good. For heavy stuff they just crush.

Is this TGP? Excuse me, I must have logged on to the wrong site. :D

Dual/Triple Rectifiers are excellent amplifiers, especially for metal. The VH4 is a whole different ballpark though.

this sucks that sucks............................whatever. The most used amp of the 90s sucks..........funny stuff.

From a money standpoint if it was straight up this is a no brainer.

Yeah.......the VH4 is just a 'toy'......

The VH4 is one of the BEST SOUNDING amps out there.....PERIOD!
Why even ask this silly question?

VH4 is an awsome amp but trying to capture it's true tone is kinda hard. My only beef with the VH4 is it seems TO compressed.
However I still gig my Dual and Triple recto's.
Edit sorry, trying to capture the true tone of the VH4 while recording is tough.

I despise the vh4. I played one in gc hollywood and it sounded like compressed nasally shit, it reminded me of a pv xxx in that department. Hell, there isn't a clip that blows me away and most I don't even like, at all.
That said if you're in the us, do it.

I played one. I kinda liked it but walked away not gassing for it at all. For me, a goosed Marshall like a Fortin or Cameron kills amps like Bogners or Diezels. Just my opinion.

They each have their own Flavor.
I owned them all. Fortin, Friedman, Cameron, Diezel....yadda yadda....
All amps are great and serve their purpose.
But for sure I would swap the Mesa for the VH4 with no doubts. ;)

if it is your "beloved" trip rec then it sounds like you are totally happy with it. Unless it's for financial reasons(do the trade-sell the VH4-buy another TRec-with left over money go to the movies AND buy popcorn and soda) I'd say don't bother. If you are completely satisfied with your amp there is no need to go down that road.

I guess for those that like so much gain all dynamics are gone, but I will stay with Bogner all day long.
