Now I've read that the Floyd's that come stock on the USA Wolfgang's are not the German-made OFR's but instead their Korean-made counterparts?

Is this true?

If it is, then is it the same tremolo that Charvel used for their Japanese, Pro-Mod San Dimas and So-Cal guitars that were released a few years back?

Neither - they are gotoh copies, not floyd rose OFR or schaller based at all.

They do come with a small brass block stock though. Loved the way mine sounded/played. Never had a problem with pitting or other issues like the black chrome OFR originals.

glpg80, you may be thinking of the Peavey Floyds? They're pretty similar to the Gotohs. Guitar Fetish actually sells those pretty cheap on their site...

Anyways, OP, I think you're right. The Floyds on the new EVH Wolfgangs are Korean made, but they seem really solid. The trem on my EVH special works nicer than the OFR and Gotoh I have on other guitars. Here's a pic.

I remember reading an interview with Ed's tech on the 2004 tour about gear setup and he said the licenced-Floyd bridges on the USA Wolfgangs were shit and had to be replaced every couple of weeks under touring conditions.

Yes I was assuming Peavey EVH Wolfgang since the OP didn't specify Fender.

So is it the same as the one's Charvel used for the MIJ Pro-Mods?

I think the model # is FRT-0200

I found this post from a Google search for Wolfgang trems . . .

The ones on Guitar Fetish are actually Gotoh knockoffs. With that being said, they're pretty darn good.

I have the knockoff from GF on my blue Sterling AX40, and a real Gotoh GE1996T on my red AX40:

I have had the knockoff for a couple years on the blue guitar, and last year replaced it with the Gotoh; now the Gotoh is on my new red one. Both have had extensive practice and gig use. Biggest cosmetic difference is the baseplate on the knockoff is slightly off-centered/shifted to the right, as you can see from the top view. It puts the trem arm just to the right enough to where I had to dremel out a small piece of the tremolo cavity for it to fit. Other than that, no complaints. To be honest, I like the trem arm and collar better on the knockoff than the Gotoh one, so I swapped them. The fine tuners sit a little higher on the Gotoh, where as the knockoff you can see sits lower, and if you use the EVH D-tuna you might have clearance issues with the knockoff. Rides just fine on the Gotoh.
