Tremoverb or Mark IV?

Whoa, both great amps, depends on the music you're playing.but if it was me I'd go with the Mark IV,better cleans IMO,smoother distortion, and I like the EQ better.
Plus simul class is sweet for pushing the gain.

After having owned two TremOVerbs, I would go Mark IV. The clean on the Tverb was very lacking, and the modern high gain was to aggressive for my taste. Now if the Tverb had two orange channels, that would be a killer amp. Channel cloning doesn't quite get the feel of the orange channel.

I haven't played a tremoverb, but ive owned a mark iv. Very smooth and compressed.

Its a cute little high gain monster. I'd love to own another one someday.

From my perspective, T-Verb all the way. I've owned a III and a IV and just couldn't bond with them.

Did you adjust the Presence in Channel B appropriately? You can't clone and then set the controls on the Modern channel the same as on the Orange channel and expect to get the same tones due to the voicing on the Presence control on the Modern channel. With some tweaking, you can get them to be almost identical. "Almost" is good enough too, as why would you want to footswitch between two IDENTICAL tones?

I own both .... neither are for sale. These are my favorite's of all the Mesa amps.

A amp with the clean and lead channel of the IV and the red, orange, blues channels from the Tremoverb would be nice.

The lead channel from the II,III and IV is a classic. Maybe the best hot Fender sound ever made. People that play very different have used this sound (Stones, Metallica, etc, its a big list) The cleans on these amps are very good. It is one of the most versatile amps ever made.

I have played on amps with more gain and/or bass than my Tremoverb but I feel none are as aggressive after doing a direct A/B with. Diezel, Bogner, Rivera, Engl, Fryette, 5150 etc all are great amps .... but I feel all sound kind of polite in a direct A/B.
I remember Ed DeGenaro asking me if I use the the red channel and him telling me "It's too much for me".

It also is very versatile .... I can get in the ball park of Fender and Vox sounds. The clean and blues channel does a pretty good English crunch sounds. (something the IV does not do very well).

Thats the classic recto vs Mark debate :dunno: Somedays I like the rectos betters and somedays I like the Marks. Neither one is perfect.

This week for me Id say the Tverb.

Great Question!! The two best Boogie amps ever!, That one is easy if I know what kind of music you are playing?
