2 totally different amps, I know. I'm having a hard time deciding what I want. Which is the most versatile?

I've had rectos before, a rectoverb and a 2 ch triple recto. I liked the rectoverb a lot, but grew tired of it after a while. I keep hearing that the tremoverb sounds a lot better, and I've heard a lot of great clips from them.

I don't have a ton of experience with Marshalls, but I keep hearing a lot of great clips from them as well. I'm hoping to be able to play heavy rock, and occasional blues. I rarely ever use clean channels, so the clean isn't a big deal to me.

Anyone owned both that can comment? What are your general thoughts on each? Reliabilty?

I've recently been using a '68 bassman head with pedals, and its nice for bluesy stuff, but for anything else it just isn't doing it for me.

Vintage Modern is a great amp! And sounds better the louder it gets, does a decent job at lower volumes as well. Boosted it's heavenly!!

If modern metal/rock is your thing than I would say T-Verb. For my money VM all the way. Boosted it's incredible. It's a PPIMV so it's manageble at bedroom volume. However the PPIMV also means that the loop isn't extremely transparent. Still usable though. I don't know if it's the KT66s or not but the VM has a crunch I have not heard in another amp.

In short the VM.

Here's a few low volume clips I did when I had mine. I regret selling this amp BIG TIME.

I personally would go with the VM. I did own a Racktifier in the early 90s, but boogies, just not my thing.

+1. I absolutely love my 100 watt VM. At gig volume (master @ 5 or above) the loop sounds just fine. Here's a live clip of my VM (with a Line 6 delay pedal in the loop), my LP and a BB Preamp through a open back 2 X 12 with the master around 7.

I have owned both and prefer the Marshall mid range tone and boosted it does rock. On the other hand the Tremo is totally dark and punishing tone and does seem to sound less fizzy than the 3 channel rectos. I would say the Mesa is more versatile with an extra channel to fuck around with.

The T-Verb is my #1 amp. It does SO much SO well, and....unlike many other Boogies......it's SO easy to dial n good sounds quickly.

well I pulled the trigger on a T-verb head. Can't wait for it to get here

I love my Tremoverb. I am sure it well make you happy.

Hopefully it will come soon... Paypal sent me an automated email on Thursday with a UPS tracking number, but it still says "Billing information recieved". So i guess that means he printed a label for it but still hasn't shipped it. :gethim:

The seller told me he shipped it late Friday night, so he was assuming it would leave Monday. Here it is Tues morning and it still says "Billing information recieved".

Did he send it from a UPS Store? If so, contact that store directly to make sure the box isn't just sitting somewhere.
