definitely the honeymoon phase as i played it for the first time an hour last night.

but the impression i get is this-i have played a ton of marshalls and have had a few under my roof over the years to hold onto and really put through the ringer. based on this experience i can say 100 percent that this is the best plexi marshall sound i have ever personally put together in any of my rigs. this pedal compliments this amp better than any pedal amp combo i have ever had or heard.

it's not as VH brown as i put together with my old peacemaker rig and the tonebone classic, but it's got a raw, dynamic twang that i'm sure would please most plexi affecionados. for me VH tone is a committed amount of gain that basically means it's going to be played within a hard rock context, but this tone i had last night could be country, blues, indy, ballad, and textured atmospheric approved as well.

and i'm sure that over time i will find a way to create a VH approved sound with maybe an additional piece of the puzzle.

the drive mode is very sweet dynamic plexi crunch that swings so well from chirpy chompy classic marshall to sweet glassy clean with the guitar volume.

stack on the select button and now you have a layer of higher gain which allows you to play single note lines more fluidly and adss some lower mid crack filler to make notes rounder.

the final button is a clean gain boost so you can lift the prior tone out of the mix for solos and get a little more liquid out of the deal. awesome. think more audley freed/cry of love and jake e lee/badlands than van halen, but the TONE is alive and rich.

SUPER HAPPY!!

Ok you have officially lost me... You are using a pedal to get a plexi tone on a plexi based amp to get a plexi based sound?

Of course I'm messing with ya :D

I've been looking at this pedal as well, but I am still on the fast track to selling a few amps and replacing them with a JVM so that may have to wait a while. Dammit Pat, I wish you lived closer so I could try this with my DSL. I bet it would kick some ass especially with the Fortin Mods that were done.

I used to use the PlexiTone with a JCM800 so it would sound more like a Plexi and it worked very well. Maybe the Mojave doesn't sound like a Plexi so it would work well too.
I'm thinking it's more because you need to crank the snots out of the mojave in order to get that sound. The Pedal more then likely gets what he wants at a less then kill people volume :hys:

With that said I was thinking about putting together a pedal base rig using the Plexitone for a few fly out gigs I might have. I think using one of those through a backline amp will KILL.

On another note, I just got a WET reverb and I'm really digging it

mentoneman that's really cool!

so how low do you have the gain on the peacemaker?
and can u put delay in front of the amp this way?

I really liked the WET even though I don't use reverb a lot. I just thought it was a bit too modern, rack-like sounding for what I wanted. I just preferred a hint of reverb from a stock Twin.

That's probably why i like it because I dig the rack sounding verbs and I wanted it in a pedal lol!
With that said, have you tried the Malekko chicklet? I think the clips sounded just like what you are looking for.

What is this WET youz guys are talking about?

It's the WET Reverb pedal, one of the hottest pedals on TGP right now and Pete Thorn didn't even demo it yet.

Can't be all that then.

For my new stripped down rig ;)

I didn't think it liked gain very much, are you having good results?

Yeah, I'm having great results with using it with gain although I am using the pedal sparingly. I use if more for clean and I use delay more with the dirty sound, but I haven't had any issues so far with it on the gain side of things

w/d/w with Space Echo vid NOW!

the space echo is a monophonic device, noob.

:D :D :D love yah mr. vaisectomy :hys: :hys:

actually i just picked up a peavey 50/50 tube power amp for my axe-fx and can now experiment with more wdw riggage.

i'm running a hotplate on the Maker and pulling a line out to a timeline delay-tech 21 wet path for a w/d rig right now and it's truly grand.

if i take the timeline and run it out in stereo to the peavey into two cabs the wdw plexi dream will be a reality.

give me a few days to put something together...i'm parked on the wd glory for now!

I haven't even been on TGP in more then a year. I didn't even know it was hot there. I was looking for a reverb pedal and when I did a search here, I caught a thread where you had mentioned the WET pedal. I listened to all of the reverb pedal clips and I like the WET the best and whent with it. great to know that its hot because if I decide to part with it, it should go quick :D

Hopefully Pete will do a Demo of it, so that the demand will go up!! My gas level went up after seeing his Plexitone demo :D

as usual sir gainfreak is correct. the sound of this rig down low is cranked plexi glory!!!
killer dynamic response. you would play this rig and love it for what it does. not super soak but TONE!!!!

Yeah I did miss that one small thing regarding mono........... :D

The WET sounds good on their site and would probably go with the same thing as Ralph, delay for gain anyways.

Cool, but why do you need a pedal if Vic modded the amp for more gain? Still not enough gain for liquidy legato? Seemed to me the PeaceMaker was on the verge of that and just needed some gain stage component values adjusted to give that sound...

I think it would perfect for a stripped down rig for you, would be great for your flyaway gigs.

My father never liked you.

I know I would love it. I've loved every rig that you have put together so far.

just a heads up and this might shock everyone here ,but in the last year or so I've been playing mostly dry with a hint of delay and the gain has gone down a ton.
With that said, after reviewing some of the audio of my live shows, I'm going back to what I feel comfortable with, which is gain up a bit and more delay on solos
The last year has been a learning experiance. Ive now come to the conclusion...There is only good tone or bad tone and I don't care if the gain is up or down or if the effects are on or off ;) good is good and what you use to get there is ok IMHO.
I just saw a Lynch video and his tone was ass and he could have used more gain but because he is stuck in a mental rut, his tone was shit IMHO.
Im now for a litte less analysing and more using your ears. To many people are getting caught up in theories of what they think should sound good instead of using there ears.

all IMHO of course!!

Plexitone is old news, five years ago, liked it but didn't love it. It does sound better with certain amplifiers though. Lots of bass and noise if you're not careful with the settings, does clean up very well with volume though.
I figured that it was old news but since Im not a pedal guy, I can see why Im late to the party although I've liked what Ive heard so far!
With that said, good to know about the bass because that seems to plague a lot of pedals and amps (like you mentioned in your other thread) Id gather that is the reason why I started using swamp ash body guitars because the bass is real low on them.(or at least they are on my GMW's) My alder body guitars fart out just about every amp I own and I have to tune the bass way down

IMO your style is wet, no way around it. When I hear dry tracks from you I can almost hear you waiting for swells or decays.

I would rather watch a 24 marathon of gay slasher flicks with Barzini than play dry myself.

Pat is a closet soaker anyways, he has that vid of him playing at his church and he is dripping :D
