Truebypass looper - volume issue (impedance/buffer problem?)

For one band i'm using a POD HD setup with some pedals before and afterwards

EQD organizer --> MXR bass compressor --> POD HD

the mono output of the pod is going

--> Polytune --> boss slicer --> true bypass looper --> DI

loop 1: boss re-20 space echo - TC hall of fame reverb (set to buffered bypass but it's always on)
loop 2 : boss dd-6 - behringer US600 - boss PS-5

When i engage each loop separately there's no problem, the volume is at unity level, however when i engage both loops there's a considerable volume drop

any ideas what it might be? impedance/buffer issues or whatever?

the solution i've found that solves this is putting a danelectro EQ within loop 1 after the TC reverb and maintaining unity volume,

after doing this there's a minute volume boost when i do this while engaging both loops (which is better than a volume drop =0 , but not sure why adding the pedal fixes this, i'm guessing something to do with impedance?

just wondering what the problem might be, thanks

You'd think it must have something to do with a mismatch between the TC and the DD6. The Danelectro pedals have buffers in them so apparently that solves the mismatch.

What happens when you use the TC into the DD6 solely ?

That's what I figured, I'll have to try the TC into the DD-6 by itself, normally the verb would be last in the chain, but i'm only really using the DD-6 for the hold/loop function to make glitchy noises

previously due to space and lack of long enough wires, i had the TC going into the boss re-20 first , not sure it had the same issue however as it was before getting the bypass looper, but i'd think two boss products would be fine together

I did try the TC in true bypass mode and when it was off and both loops were engaged there was no volume issues, however turning the reverb on resulted in a 2-3 db boost in volume

i'm thinking the danelectro EQ in the loop after the TC is probably the best solution, i've got a t1m mini buffer i might play around with it to see what happens, thanks for the help

If it's an issue of having a buffer, I would have a dedicated buffer before the looper to buffer the input signal. The signal loss in loopers and ABY boxes usually comes from feeding 2 paths with one signal. The solution is to buffer your signal with a good dedicated buffer before you split the signal. I had the same problem running a passive ABY. When I ran my board into it, it worked great because I have a dedicated buffer on my board. When I used it by itself, it didn't work because I wasn't buffering the input signal. I would try getting a dedicated buffer and putting it before the looper to buffer the signal before the split.

Don't always trust those pedal buffers either. They may work to compensate for the added cable of putting them in the chain, but they don't buffer enough for extended runs and loops. Get a good dedicated buffer to do you buffering, and leave everything else true bypass. That's the best way to do it.
