Taking to Truth Social, he attacked Erika McEntarfer, the commissioner of the BLS. He claimed that the country's jobs reports "are being produced by Biden appointee" and ordered his administration to terminate her.

"We need accurate Jobs Numbers," Trump wrote. "She will be replaced with someone much more competent and qualified. Important numbers like this must be fair and accurate, they canā€™t be manipulated for political purposes."

He intensified his attack in a later post, writing: "In my opinion, todayā€™s Jobs Numbers were RIGGED in order to make the Republicans, and ME, look bad." He didn't cite any evidence for his claim.



The head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is the Commissioner of Labor Statistics. As of January 29, 2024, the current Commissioner is Erika McEntarfer. She was nominated by President Biden and confirmed by the Senate. However, news sources report on August 1, 2025 that President Trump has ordered her firing after a revision in the July jobs report. The Deputy Commissioner, William Wiatrowski, will serve as acting chief while a replacement is sought.

I think before you sack someone you should actually prove they have been manipulated. Otherwise it's an abuse of power and it erodes confidence in the numbers. It would be pretty extraordinary for someone in what is essentially an accounting function that would be capable of being audit to produce fraudulent numbers.

And why then would you believe numbers from a Trump appointee? What this is implying that you can't trust anything from any government department - Trump/Biden or otherwise.

People in functions like that shouldn't even be politcally appointed at all. They are supposed to be independent of government.

At this point, most people who support Trump just want to be told what to do and what to think. They want him to stroke their hair and tell them everything will be alright and not to think too hard about it.

It reminds me of when my girls were younger and I could use white lies to get them to do things lol .Like if they didnā€™t want play outside because of bees I could tell them ā€œbees donā€™t work on Saturdaysā€ and then we had a great day together outside.
