I have a EVH 5150 iii head, Boss GT3 (ya its old) and just got a Midi Moose.

My issue was that I want Channel 1 with effects loop but Channels 2 and 3 without loop. The head supports midi input and was advised that I could do a midi channel with and without loop. So my setup is

Midi Channel 1 = Clean (amp channel 1)
Midi Channel 2 = Overdrive (amp channel 2)
Midi Channel 3 = Distortion (amp channel 3)

I was able to successfully setup those. But the loop is off unless its clicked with the foot switch then its always on.

In the EVH 5150iii manual it says

To use MIDI for effects loop bypass:
1. No set up is required. From MIDI channel 1 (default) or the channel
that was used to send Program Change messages in the section
above (if different from MIDI channel 1), simply send a Control
Change #85 message with a value of 63 or less to bypass the effects
loop or a value of 64 or more to enable the effects loop.

I have no idea how to "simply send a Control Change #85 message with a value of 63 or less to bypass the effects loop or a value of 64 or more to enable the effects loop" with the Midi Moose. Please help. Thank you

Im guessing you have the 50watter ? The 100 needs a amp gizmo , or midi mate type of thing to interface with a midi pedal as far as I know.

Thanks for the reply :)

After messing with it for 4 hours. I'm going to use my GT10 (I have both but liked the tone of the GT3 better) direct without using the effects loop and switch amp channels using its midi controller. I got it working like that last night with the GT3 but its flakey. Sad because I like the effects loop better but there is just no way to have the effects off and on depending on what channel I use. If the effects is ON then its always on until I click it off. I was able to set my expression pedal to send the CC85 signal to the amp in which it does correctly turn on and off the effects loop. However like the EVH foot pedal it simply stays on until I click it off instead of going off when I change the channel like I desire. Phew that was a mouth full. Oh and yes its a 50watt
