I have a brand new Einstein 50W head with stock EL-34 tubes (don't know the exact model and brand).
Is there someone who experienced with TungSol 5881? I read on Egnater forums they are one of the best choices for Egnater heads, wondering the effect on tone in an Einstein.

I haven't tried a 5881 myself but as far as I know they are kind of a smoother version of 6L6 and I have tried EL34 and 6L6 in the Einstein that I used to have. The 6L6 clean sound was better than with EL34 but the distortion sounds weren't as good imo. Too smooth. So probably with 5881 you will get a great clean and very smooth and creamy distortion sounds.

So it's safe to say that EL34 are THE best option tubewise for the Einstein?

I'm in no need to retube my Einstein, but it's good to know in advance

Well, it depends :D

If you play a lot of clean and bluesy stuff and like a very smooth distortion then 6L6 might be a better choice. But if you want the most versatility and play everything from clean to really heavy stuff imo EL34 are the best.
