Hey guys,
Now that I'm finally getting used to an all tube amp, I'm curious about which tubes are good for the sound I'm looking for.
I play pretty much pop/rock and hard rock, and all stock the Rebel 30 gives me about what I need...but I wonder if certain tubes would give me a bit more gain?
I've finally gotten rid of the stock tubes that came with the amp. I first blew a 6V6 and replaced them with a set of JJs (It's what the tech guy gave me). Then, the EL84s blew last weekend, and another tech friend of mine gave me some NOS GE tubes from the 70s I think? I can't really notice a difference in my tone from the stock tubes, though. I usually run the mix right at 50/50 as to have maximum volume and headroom.
Any suggestions? Favorites? I hadn't even considered preamp tubes either...
