Tube Screamer and delay - help me decide

I'm not in an area where I can get to a decent sized music store to try out a bunch of pedals in person. Watching Youtube demos will only get you so far, I need some opinions on a Tube Screamer and delay pedal before I order something.

My rig is the JJ-100 and G&L Cantrell Superhawk in my avatar.

I'm wanting an actual Ibanez, either the TS-9 or TS808 most likely. The 808hw would be nice but it's more than I'm looking to spend. Cantrell uses the hw, how close is the TS808 to the hw? I see the hw is true bypass.

Are there any drawbacks to the TS-9 or 808, and is there any tone loss when bypassed with either one?

Is the extra tone shaping of the TS-9DX worth it over the regular TS-9? I'm just using it for a boost.

I'm also looking for delay pedal suggestions, middle of the road price range. Time Factor would be nice but I'm hoping to spend about half that or less.

The TC Flashback is a great delay pedal and pretty versitile....reasonably priced as well.

Tube screamer wise the stock TS9 is a great pedal which will have a little more bite, where the TS808 (which is built on the TS9 board) will be smoother sounding. You might also get a BOSS SD-1.

All above pedals can be had without shelling out a bunch of cash....but I feel a great place to start! :thumbsup:

Not sure why you must have Ibanez and honestly different OD's can sound better with different amps but if you must have the Ibanez you can always get the Keely Mod.

(Still think Maxon is the way to go)
 
I've tried both Keeley mods on the TS9 and I didn't liken at all....Analogman sounds more natural. However, the Keeley TS9DX sounds pretty good.

The stock TS9 is buffered bypass (i think) but it does take away a small amount of high end when off....barely noticeable only at bedroom volumes.

I only share all of this because I've recently been on a Tube Screamer mission and ended up with four TS9's....stock to modded.

Maxon OD808 can be very compressed sounding and one dimensional IMHO....depends on the amp and player.
 
Bogner Harlow boost. It will murder any TS9,TS808,TB09, HWTs808,etc. I've got a Maxon TB09 that is my favorite tube screamer.. it just sits silently on the board. lol

Flashback delay Mini. Can PM clips if you'd like.

The mini Flashback delay works amazing, and is a very small footprint. They make a four button monster Flashback delay, but I'd only needed one solo delay and the mini works great. I spent 70 bucks and got one brand new.
 
I used to own 7 vintage Tube Screamers until Maxon reissued the Tube Screamers that they used to build for Ibanez. I got a Maxon OD808 and the OD9 and sold 6 of my vintage Tube Screamers. I haven't plugged in a vintage one since. As for the Ibanez reissues, I put them in a distant third behind the vintage Ibanez ones and the current Maxon ones. Of course everyone knows that Maxon built all the old Tube Screamers for Ibanez right?

here's another +1 for the Maxon od808. Damn fine pedal, makes everything sound better. The only delay pedal I'd recommend in your price range is the good old Carbon Copy. But I'm guessing you're looking for longer delay times.
 
Thanks everybody, I appreciate the input. I originally mentioned Ibanez just because I know there are alot of cheaper imitations out there and I didn't want to waste time and money on junk.

I went ahead and ordered a Maxon OD808 last night. I've been happy with the MXR stuff I already have so I picked up a Carbon Copy.
 
I have the ts 808 hw I like it a lot sounds good as boost on clean or dirty for more bite .
I have a timeline 2 that sounds great but way more then I need , so musicians friend had the digitech hardwire for 59.95 on sale .
I like the modulation the best easy to use and sounds great !!
 
The Hardwire DL-8 is a great delay pedal. Waiting for another blowout on these. Should have bought two.
MF was selling them for $59 a while ago.

I use an OD808(newer) and an SD1(vintage - '83) with by BE100. Two best OD's for my taste, and I tried at least 50. You'll be real happy with that.

Regarding the delay, I agree with several that the Flashback and Hardwire DL-8 are phenomenal (also had a Timeline but it was too much for what I wanted to do). I had the CC for several months, and its a fine pedal, but I found that the analog nature of the pedal would allow the repeats to get fuzzy with distortion. For me the digital pedals offer a better solution. YMMV depending on what you play.
