I would like to get new tuner heads for my old Les Paul Studio. I'm looking at RS Guitarworks Kluson tuners. Which ones do I get? Double Ring Double Line, or Double Ring Single Line?

Also will new tuner heads improve tuning stability?

If you're having tuning stability issues, it is either the nut, the bridge, or the tuners. And I would recommend spending the money on something good. I get the feeling you like the look of those Klusons, but I implore you to try what I think is the best in the business: Schaller locking tuners.

Cool I like locking tuners, just trying to keep the guitar more or less original looking. How much we looking at for Schaller's?

I can completely appreciate that. After all, if you used a set of chrome or gold Schallers, your Les Paul would look very 70's!

They're 90 USD: http://www.stewmac.com/Hardware_and_Par ... hines.html

I don't think you'd regret them since they're just so awesome. It's conceivable that you could find some Kluson-style tuner buttons, but I get what you're doing - there's something cool about those Klusons, so wanting to keep it looking vintage is understandable. I've gotten to the stage where I'm mostly about function over form. Although I don't think I'd get LSR tuners even if they're the best - they look f-cking stupid!
