I have Groove Tube 6V6's that came in my used Tweaker. I wanted to try something different and have ordered a pair of JJ 6L6 GC's.

Question: Do I need to change any configurations in the Tweaker to make sure the new 6L6 tubes work properly?

Thanks,

- W

Yes, you should probably install a beefier PT because the 6L6 will draw nearly an amp more heater current and possibly fry your PT. The Twkr 15 amp wasn't designed for 6L6, and with the transformer problems in the Chinese Egnater amps, I wouldn't risk it. ;)

If you want more of a 6L6 flavor, the JJ 6V6, or GT 6V6 S, both sound closer to a 6L6 than they do a 6V6. For something different with a great 6V6 sound, EH would be very nice in this amp. You might have better results by swapping in some different preamp and PI tubes, they are plug and play and you can try any brand of 12AX7, or lower gain tubes like 5751, 12AT7, or 12AY7.

Depending on where you buy, you might be able to exchange your 6L6 for some 6V6.

I just ordered the 6L6's on Saturday. I will send them back and pay for shipping. I have Groove Tube 6V6;s now. I have JJ 6V6 s on order.
