I'm totally stoked about the new Tweaker I picked up. Everything from 60's Motown, to blues, to full-on 80's saturated Marshall tone - in 1 box!!!

(silly question) How reliable are the small switches on the front panel? Are these the same ones that are on the Egnater modules? I ask because I've been playing with the various combinations of the AC/US/Brit, and the TIGHT and DEEP controls like they were light switches  I was wondering if folks who purchased a while ago have experienced any reliability issues?

Also, I slid the chassis out of the head shell, and there was a lot of sticky glue that had apparently oozed out from under the head shielding on to the chassis? Anyone else notice this or experience this?

A GREAT amp and one that everyone should check out.
mike.

I wondered about the switches myself but then I settled into using the same settings most of the time. I do tend to baby the switches though - they're so tiny.

Yeah - I got a little glue myself - no biggie.

Rock on!!

The switches are meant to be switched, use them!

I like the one I demoed it didn't really do the modern heavy tones which is ashame as it does everything else.

I miss my tweaker, (went with a Renegade ) I opened it up when I had it, switches look heavy duty to my eye, good stuff. I too have the glue on my chasis, no biggie. Good luck with the amp.

thank you jamme - good to know, and thx for the confirmation.

It's funny, my other guitar playing buds (many of whom have PWE's, Soldano's, vintage Marshalls, Diezels, Bogner, etc.) are ALL asking me, "WHY do I care" about build quality when the amp's the cost of a boutique pedal?

My response is "it's not about the cost of the head, it's that I love it so much that I want to use it 100% of the time and want to maintain her"!

yea I get that and totaly agree. I was very happy with the quality of all the components in there. I wish they had amps like this back in the day.

Agree. This is the golden age. My Epi Les Paul is affordable and playable, my Egnater Tweaker is affordable and amazing. I opened it up to try some different tubes and was happy to find a sturdy chassis (unlike my Marshall Class 5).

I love marshall but, it seems the quality might be slipping?

I am sometimes amazed at how much better equipment is today then it was in my professional days in the 80's. About $600.00 in 1980 got me a pretty good Strat, but that is probably the equivalent of about $1500.00 or so today. Still, a $300-$400 Line 6 amp or something like that is far superior to the equivalent amps of 20 or 30 years ago, and there is absolutely no comparison in recording equipment! I actually owned the original Tascam 144 Portastudio cassette 4 track (there is an iPad app for that- can you believe it?), and when you look at what a few hundred bucks will get you today in terms of recording equipment, it was simply unimaginable back then! Not to mention the explosion of companies and capability. It was pretty much the Big Three back then, and things like loopers and guitar synths either didn't exist or were very expensive and only in top notch studios.

Of course, I think 80's rock was better then today's. I have sometimes wondered if there isn't an inverse relationship. It is so easy to sound good these days without actually being good. Maybe top notch music requires a little struggle? Better equipment = worse music? Possible. Hmmmm. Always up to us in the end I guess.
