the gear page round table is stagnate at the moment. Please post your experiences with tweaker amps. Also tubes you are using speaker you like and settings that make you smile. I just bought a tweaker 40 head and cab and am very impressed with it. I am smashing the front end with a bogner red pedal and running a TC trinity reverb and a TC flashback in the loop and it is magical for me. I am going to start tube swapping today and would love to hear you thoughts on tubes you have tried and love. It would be nice to get Bruce himself in here to get his thoughts as well.

I just so happy with it stock that I haven't even considered making any mod's to it. One of the main reasons I picked this model over the rebel is so I could use it without needing any pedals other than maybe the channel switch. But I have my RP500 in the loop for when I need something other than distortion like reverb or chorus. Be interested in hearing about the mod's you and other's might make -

My contribution (sorry pics are kinda large)

I have swapped out the stock V1 12ax7 with a TAD 12Ax7C-A . Make a nice little difference A little bit cleaner, nice note seperation within chords . I do not use the gain side of the amp just cleans with the Bogner red pedal. Just massive sounding. I have tried the tung-sol 12ax7 a little bit to noisey. EH12ax7 was a nice balanced tube also.

Whats up, I just got a tweaker 88 after returning a renegade 2X12 and I'm loving it so far. I'm still working out the setup with my pedalboard so I can use the amp distortion more. I'm upgrading from a Fender Hod Rod DeVille which was all pedals into the frontend and splitting my delay and reverb up to route into the FX loop is kind of tricky with my setup. I use a bypass looper to turn multiple pedals off and on. I'm planning on getting some cables and trying to use the FX loop and see what songs I'll get screwed up on and hopefully be able to find an alternative way of playing.

So as of now I'm using a Mojo hand Colossus Fuzz, a Way Huge Pork Loin, and a Mooer Black secret for my distortion into the front along with my reverb and delay on the clean channel and it sounds pretty great. I still love the amp distortion more.

Thats a cool rig. How is that black secret? I run about the same routing a few less pedals. Bogner red in the front end .TC flashback and TC trinity and an EQ in the loop. orderd some JJ EL34's to try a little swapping this next weekend. I dig it. I have also incorporated my old Sansamp GT2 on the front as well that I have had for about 10 years and it is pretty cool . I dig gain pedals

thanks man, the black secrets a decent pedal for the money. It's supposed to be a rat clone, which Ive never played. Although I did put it next to another "boutique" rat clone and could barely tell the difference. Its a little screechy with too much volume, so I usually boost it with my pork loin on a few songs and it really sings well on solos. I used to have an ibanez SD-9M in its place, but I just couldnt stand the switch on it and it was a bit weak, so the black secrets filling in until I find a better match. I liked the sustain the SD-9M had. It was a little smoother than the black secret.

I just hooked up my Deluxe Memory Boy and Hall of Fame into the FX loop over the weekend and it is AMAZINGLY BETTER! Theres so much more clarity and depth running it this way. Especially at higher volumes with distortion. I moved the Egnater footswitch so the FX button lines up with the switch of the Black secret and I can stomp both of them on at this one point in our song and it just floods the room with big loud cavernous leads. Last night was the first time I played it like this in a band practice setting so I'm still pretty excited about learning what other sounds this will improve on.

Good luck on the tube swapping dude. Ive never really tinkered with tubes all that much. Just replaced them when they went bad really. At first I was thinking "why el34's?" but I forgot you have a 40. I'm like " i didnt know you can replace the kt88's with el34's"...haha. Yeah I'm glad I took back my renegade 2X12, the headroom in the 88 with these kt's is exactly what I was looking for. I play with a lot of loops and sounds at the same time and whatever amp I had just kinda got muddy and broke up a little too early.

Never heard of the GT2, I know sansamp is a good brand glad to hear you got so much use out of it.

Yea those TC pedals are awesome I have a trinity reverb which is an LE hall of fame with a couple of other reverbs built in they are sweet in the loop there toneprint editor is sick and the phone app works great! The GT2 was the first and probably the best so called modeler pedal you get Mesa fender and marshall in a pedal with tweaking options and it nails them all in the tube goodness fashion It is the only pedal that if your rig goes down you can plug direct into the board and it sounds great that way. You can still buy the even today after 16 years unchanged. you should check them out Made in America. I dig any KT series tubes the sound massive and aggressive.
