Twinjet vs Ecstasy

So my main experience with Bogner high gain is the Ecstasy. I found the Uber's I've played too saturated with poor definition. Is the Twinjet a major departure from the Uber or is it just a clean channel that can do gain plus the original Uber High gain channel?

I'd call TJ's sterile in tonality. They have gain but the gain is nothing like a 2nd revision. For versatility, the 101 or 100 would be my pick. For raw aggressiveness however the TJ does that in spades and would be what I would choose. I find the TJ's voicing to be similar to a SLO's voicing in that there is nothing that you can hide behind. If you're playing is off, the TJ will show it.

When I had the amazing chance to play lugo's rev 2 it sounded really good, but the bottom end seemed solid however undefined. Sluggish in the gain but very defined and punchy in the extended low end of that makes sense? It is hard to describe. Does not sound bad, but different. It fits the amplifier well and shakes walls with that extended low end punch. I am not sure whether a TJ has this character trait at all but might be something that some would dislike.

Overall I would believe the 101 or 100 to be a better pick between the two. Just my honest opinion on the matter

Thanks, I found a good deal on a TwinJet but can't figure out anything decent from YT clips.

I didn't really like the TJ i played. Liked my old Uber much better. Love my 101b more than any of them but thats because it is voiced more ideally for what i play

See, I have the classic Marshall sound covered and I'm looking for something good for plug and play heavy, that's aggressive but not a thick modern wash of turning a guitar into a bass. Now the Marshall thing though is always nice to have in an amp somewhere so it seems the Tj's CH1 is geared towards clean to hot rod 800. But I've yet to try an Uber on the gain side that I liked at all. Way too loose and undefined for riffing. Does this accurately represent the TJ?

Twin Jet is more thicker and defined than 101b, with great mids

I found the TJ uninspiring to play through but that simply my opinion. YMMV

That's a pretty good way to put it - that is close to what I was getting at when mentioning sterile. They do respond great to tube changes like 5150's and can be taylored in that manner - just depends on how close or how far off the initial voicing is to your preferences though. Not really made to change the overall character.

Well, I had pretty much written off the Uberschall after demo'ing them in the past and I much preferred the 101b at the time. The way the Twin Jet's low end holds together is a thing of beauty. There was definitely some break in time on the KT88's, but I don't find them sterile...add to that, the controls take awhile to wrap your head around. The power amp controls are nice to have once you have the master volume up and there's a lot of range within the 2 gain channels. If you thought the old Ubers lacked definition and were too saturated, then the TJ would probably be an improvement to your ears. It is more of a player's amp and will make your mistakes apparent. I tend to prefer more open and dynamic tones and prefer the less compressed Ecstasy amps as well FWIW. Hope this helps.

get a Herbert instead if you're looking for clear brutal gain

I've tried a Herbert and a VH4 before and didn't care for either. I'm trying to find an amp that has a vintage flavor but more gain and beef. Thick and heavy, but raw and even a little ragged (not fizzy) if you want it to be. I haven't really found a pedal that does it into what I have now but honestly it's just fun to have an amp do it. Orange actually get's close but I don't like the way the low end picking response gets when you get the gain up.

have you tried the Friedman BE100? boosted it's pretty snarly, has great punch and is clear gain never muddy

I doubt I'll ever get a chance to demo one. Even though I've tried two Diezel's to no avail I would still like to try a Dmoll or Einstein. One of these days I'll have to bite the bullet and go to an Ampfest or Major metro center with this stuff available to demo.
