Nice
I'm not a big fan of chorus, especially with gain, but that was pretty cool. I liked the dry tone the best though. Sounded killer at :50.

damn!! that sounds awesome man! what guitar and pickups were you using?

I'm not a big processed tone guy either...but man, it's fun to play through when you're standing right in front of it. But if you used it all night long at a gig it probably would piss most of the guitar players off...everything in moderation. :D

Thanks...it was an old Peavey Wolfgang Special with the stock pickups. Love that guitar.

Sounds cool. Alot like his tone on many bootlegs that are out.

Ever tried a DC-2 like that? Its an interesting pedal.

I love it! Revelation sounds killer. And I love that huge, stereo chorus sound. And George is right, it does sound like his true tone that you hear on the bootlegs. It's amazing how heavy the riffs he was playing were on Revelation and how puny they sounded due to Max Normans crappy production.

Thanks for that clip. I never learned Revelation, but now I want to!

Cool, the resident Randy lovers are checking in. I thought it sounded kind of like Randy's live tone with that wide stereo chorus effect, it's good to hear that I'm not delusional. :D
I thought it would sound Van Halenish, but to me it sounds more Randyish....which I'm glad.

For a one guitar band with a guitarist trying to cover a lot of doubled up parts it could work well live...good for playing Stone Temple Pilots and the Police as well.

The DC-2 sounds pretty cool to, it has that really big sounding chorus.
Can't tell from this video, but I'm wondering how it sounds in stereo.

Revelation has that big song writing from Randy (along with Diary of a Madman) that really made him unique. I would have loved for him to be around longer to write more songs like that.

I hope for a big remix of all the Randy studio material one day by a much better audio engineer.

Learn Revelation properly and post it up, you'll see I'm probably playing a lot of it wrong.

Yep thats the pedal. I've had one on my board forever (though I use it mono). Great for a hammond organ type sound. With a similar chorus effect. But running it stereo going from mode I to IV it gets a progressively wider stereo image. Its freaky in a cool way. Not as much sweep like you get with chorus/ flanging.

Its really bizarre running into one mono directly into another one stereo.

Your tone hear, like you say, would be great for a one guitar / power trio kinda thing. Fill up alot of sonic space without having to be too busy.

EVH's lush, expensive, Bob Bradshaw approved Eventide stereo detuning effect DESTROYS Randy's cheesy little MXR/Boss pedal stereo setup.

There, that'll get George fired up :D

cool clip! i haven't heard revelation in years!

and a nice example of how the chorus effect is interesting color for the ears, but when you kick it off it's like rolling focus on binoculars. my attention shifts from not really being able to locate the source of the sound to keying in on the guitar's "position" and that is exactly why i like and use chorus-to compliment and blend with the sound of a band versus take attention from the singers.
i suspect that is why randy used it to melt behind ozzy and maybe why eddie did the pitch shift spread behind sammy, although eddie's mix level was massive and more surrounded sammy versus laying as a layer under him.

Totally hear ya...I much more prefer that a guitarist double tracks his parts in the studio rather than use this type of effect, but for live it's a cool way to try and duplicate the studio double tracking effect...and it does blend well with the band and give the singer his own 'place' to stand out in the mix...the singer will cut well right down the center.
