Hey all. Couple of years into using VST's (I own or have tried all of the top rated) although typically satisfied and fairly savvy with this method, I have recently acquired an EVH 5150 III Stealth 50w. My Kemper has been in its case for months and now primarily going to be for tours. The modeling world and all of its advances are staggering but.... For my next recording project I am highly interested in the use of the Two Notes Captor X. Setup is pretty straightforward: Focusrite interface into DAW Presonus Studio One Pro. Anyone have experience or advice going this route? Thanks!

Most of the tracks that I've laid for our up coming EP have been with my Splawn into the Captor X. I've also been using this setup to send to front of house for shows. I have been very please with the setup. I found some IRs that really sounded good with my amp, and away we went. No more spending time worrying about mic placement. Just plug in and go.

Use the Eddie 2x12 cab profile with a single SM57 and that is really all you need to have the EVH 5150 sound great.

Captor X is more powerful than the Torpedo Live and that unit was a beast.

The thing is though an EVH 5150 can actually be played at low volumes and sounds not too far off how it sounds at louder volumes. You might find that an actual EVH 2x12 cab and SM57 mic is all you need.
