Two Notes Torpedo Live and 65' Fender Twin Reissue

Hi guys,

I have a Torpedo Live on the way and I was wondering if it was safe to use it with a 65' Fender Twin Reissue. The back of the amp is rated at 4ohms where as the Torpedo is labeled a 8ohms.

Ideally your amp should see a 4 ohm load however it will likely be quite happy seeing an 8 ohm load especially if you aren't diming the amp.

Some ways to match impedance:

1) connect the speaker or a 4 ohm load into the Live's speaker thru

2) connect the Live and another 8 ohm load in parallel

3) if you pull the outermost power tubes and run just a pair, the amp's output impedance will double and you'll be matched at 8 ohms

My advice: connect the amp to the Torpedo Live and you won't have any issue, the amp will deliver less power but Fender are robust and can handle that kind of mismatch most of the time.
